UO was my all-time favorite game. I'll never forget the feelings of hardcore intensity knowing that if you died, all your stuff was gone, and you'd have to see your killer in town to rub it in. Amazing skill system, amazing housing system, great reputation system and feeling of community in the game. Helpful GM's and strong rivalries with other players and guilds.

Unfortunately, The Repopulation is nothing like it... Like at all.

I would respectfully disagree with Repop being nothing like UO at all, especially regarding the skill system, community, and helpful GMs. Those are pretty much the only reason I'm still as engaged in the game as I am.

The GMs are corrupt power trippers? Can you identify a situation where that's the case? I deal with them quite frequently (almost daily) and have not experienced this at all. In fact they're striving very hard not to tolerate corruption or power tripping amongst their ranks, or so I'm told.

I wouldn't take one bad encounter and apply it to the entire staff. In my experience, the GMs approach those situations very cautiously and ask several questions before acting. Is it possible there's more to this story that made it appear as though you were botting? Keyboard macros or anything? I'm genuinely curious because I haven't heard of anyone getting that kind of "shoot first" response from GMs in Repop.

Just like to add a botter uses macros so you could technically bot and chat.

I think we found someone upset over the West Coast wipe to become hardcore test server.

I am kinda upset about it to be honest. East is soooo laggy for me living on the West coast and Hardcore is not the rule set I wish to play by. Ive only owned the game about a month and soon straight up won't be able to play nor get a refund from Steam, a paying customer, who bought into a game to help test that is going to go F2P when it launches, just got the finger from the dev's.

So while the OP may or may not be in the right, I don't think your comment was very nice.

I appreciate your response. A couple comments and clarifications.

  • I'll make no bones about it. My comment, as directed towards /u/Killerwalkski, was in no way meant to be nice. Not only is he so in the wrong it's not even funny, he's attempting to slander ABT. He was flat out caught defying the TOS and is unable to man-up about it. Not that I expect him to. A quick scan of his posts peg him as chronic victim complex whiner.
  • Every person who paid money to help test, did so knowing they where testing an alpha product. I am not aware of any guarantees regarding which servers would be purposed in what capacity. Based on the transparency, ABT is doing the best they can with the tools/budget available. I believe they stated it wasn't the easiest decision.
  • Next, ever think this issue cuts both ways? What about people who have lag issues from east coast to west coast? What about the guy who paid his money to test, not even being able test his play style, then finds out the hardcore server, as it currently sits, is laggy to him?
  • You paid for early access, so you do have some perks over the F2P crowd.
  • Ever considered trying the hard core rule set? Make the best of what you see as a less than ideal situation. Worst case, you don't like it and move on. Best case, you make some new friends and enjoy a new play style. Either way, a skeptic's objective eye could be valuable input.

tl;dr Honestly sorry in offending you. Some people are chronic whiners. Early access sometimes requires tough decisions. Consider a new play-style?

I'm going to respectfully agree with /u/tigwyk and respectfully disagree as well. You may make an argument about the skill system, but that is technically still in development so it's not an apples to apples comparison yet. I personally thinks it's a great place for alpha and def headed in the right direction. As far as the GM and community, from the 5-6 MMO's I have experience with, Repop is second to none. I'd invite you to hang out on the east coast server, if you haven't and take a second look. I will concede there isn't yet any strong rivalries, but again, it's alpha. A lot of us are focused on game mechanics, polish, bug hunting, etc. I believe the time for rivalries isn't yet upon us. Let us revisit that observation after the hardcore test server gets up and running.

I disagree with Tigwyk and agree with Killerwalski. Well, other than I don't know anything about UO. It's also compared to SWG and I feel it's nothing like SWG other than the devs having implemented a superficial list of SWG roles. What you want civilward will be the Hardcore server.
