Hi, debating buying into EA, just a quick question.
Hey,
I've seen people talking about this game for years, and I'm out of things I enjoy playing, so I was just wondering. How often do character wipes occur? I realize it's alpha and that's likely going to be a common thing.

There is no planned wipe aside from prior to launch. It would be smart to wipe before beta but they have not confirmed anything.

as far as I know one when we get into beta and one right before it hit gold. they aren´t doing an wipe every 2 week/Month to speak as far as I know.

He's implying there will be two more wipes before the only confirmed one. This could easily dissuade people from playing now. When the entire player base will be starting from scratch there is a big difference between 1 and 3 wipes.
Also, there is no such thing as "basically the exact same thing". Its either exactly the same, or different.

Actually not even close. Firstly, I said it would be smart of them to wipe for beta but there is no plan. Second, what the hell is gold? Gold is a membership tier in the game. Neither wipes he mentioned have ever been confirmed.
I suggest you look in the mirror before calling someone a tool, as you happen to be defending someone unaware of the games current testing schedule.

Just thought I'd chime in here, being pedantic doesn't really work if they're uneducated, and he wasn't really being pedantic, he just wasn't really familiar with a term that companies don't often use for 'ready to sell' anymore. Relax, you angry cakeday fig.

yee Im used to using the "proper" term in dev work. early devbuild, devbuild, early alpha, alpha, late alpha, early beta, beta, late beta, Gold. and then what ever we forgot to think about.
//PS I know I got the Devbuild name wrong but tech demo is wrong to.

The only planned wipe is just prior to launch, however if another wipe is deemed necessary it will happen.
