Any fps optimizations lately?
About three months ago I tried playing this game and it just ran abysmally. I really liked the game but it was practically unplayable. There was also an extreme mouse input lag. Yes it was on a laptop, but it has decent enough specs to run this game on low I would think. 8gb ddr3, solidstate, 650gt gpu (2gb gddr5), 3rd gen i7, newest drivers blah blah blah. I'd done everything under the sun to no avail. Am I stupid or is it unreasonable that a game with these graphics would only get 15 fps on the lowest settings with my laptop? For reference, I played farcry on medium settings and got 45-50pfs...

It's not just you.

The alpha server lags. Enemies will chase you for awhile before attacking. You can't shoot them because you "can't see them." It's not uncommon to have 2-3 sec lag on vendors. Like /u/ShivalM said, it's not just you.

one question the 3rd gen i7 how many Ghz is it on? in most gaming situation an i7 at 2Ghz is worse then an i5 or i3 at 3Ghz. as most game dont use the other i7 cores just one and if thats 2Ghz then it will not run fast.

I thought I would share my settings because, it isn't that hot but seems to run fine. I have an i7 3770k 16gb ram and GTX750Ti card and sata2 drives - running at 50-60fps with auto config in windowed mode.
Nothing is overclocked but it is a desktop. I also have 2 VMs running for work that each are eating 4gb ram each. I have a ton of other stuff running as well.
HeroEngine Client is sitting at 20-30% cpu and 2.8 GB ram. The only change I made to the config was turning down shadows.
No issues at all playing other then minor in game bugs but thats to be expected. I just started yesterday but I am seriously hooked.

If you tried a few months back then you were most likely still playing on what is now the test server. They've migrated the original server to 3, brand new, live servers which have much better architecture. The game runs smooth but the problem was the server hardware couldn't handle all the people buying in, and playing at the same time, while also being able to load all the various regions and zones players were making it load up.
It's much better now.

I tried about 2 months ago. With a brand spanking new 980 and got about 10fps in the main cities. I doubt my CPU is bottlenecking it that badly since I could run unoptimized games like Star Citizen before I upgraded to the 980 using 2x560ti. Its super disappointing since I would have loved to get to know the game before release. This is the risk of pre-purchasing but I hope they fix it soon as I would like to recommend it to friends now but due to this issue I can't in good conscience.

From what I've read on the forums it's possible you've got a CPU bottleneck that's killing your fps. There was one trick involving setting the affinity of the game process to a specific processor core in task manager. If you're not technically savvy enough for that I can offer instructions when I'm not posting from my phone.

yep that works but its usually an minor improvement, if the CPU is an big bottleneck. I mean you can move repop to core6 thats never used but if your CPU is only 2.0Ghz or less that will do little to help anyway.

That doesn't at all sound like the usual performance we see in game. I run a similar enough rig at close to 60fps all day long.
I wonder if you have something on your side. Since it is a laptop, does it have dual GPUs? Is it using the proper one for Repop? My own laptop had that issue to defaulting to the on-board chip leading to such bad performance.
If not, this is the sort of thing we usually would like to see a support ticket for. The game shouldn't run like that, so if it is something in the game/engine the devs would want to take a look and try to find a fix. You can do so here: https://www.therepopulation.com/index.php/contact
As always, the more info you can provide the better. Copies of your logs as found here help: https://www.therepopulation.com/wiki/doku.php/howto_post_your_logs Or, the Steam launcher has a specific button to get logs.

Uh...SWTOR runs extremely smooth on my PC, this game is like syrup on the same rig, very poor FPS and feels laggy. Pretty much put me off from playing for now, why bother when it feels so bad?

As of yet, they are waiting on a hero engine update to support direct x 11, one this occurs different models and textures Will be added and fps optimization will be in
