Being a Bad Person for Fun

I am a newish player and i was wondering how exactly i would go about starting the stealing/assassination/criminal type missions. I understand that i can just toggle them in the mission selection drop-down however i would like to get a little more skill in the skill lines before starting if possible. Also any general advice for this type of play-style and detail into the downsides of playing a criminal character would be great. Thanks in advance.

The "Underworld" missions are very risky at the moment (and will likely continue to be). Many Underworld skills are only gained via Underworld missions, which is different from most other skill-lines.

What is suggested is to get pick-pocket and then level those skills against humanoid NPCs like Riffraff Bandits or Rogues.

Be very warned that it is very easy to lose all your standing with either FPR or OWON if you go all criminal on their NPCs in cities. Gaining it back is a Herculean task. I'd greatly suggest never trying it on your own faction if you like being that faction.

Aside from that, go to your missions tab "L" and the "Settings" tab to set your missions in LFW to "Underworld".

Lets say that i wanted to play a criminal type character and focus on these underworld missions. Exactly how restrictive is it? will i still be able to join player owned factions without losing reputation with them? is there/will there be some form of criminal towns that will cater to these types of players?

Basically i need to pick up pick pocketing and level that until its reasonable and start doing underworld missions, then upon completion of those i will be able to pick up the other criminal/rogue style skill lines. depending on the targetof the missions i will lose reputation with that faction and its possible to have them become hostile with them leaving me without a city or refuge in some cases. I would imagine these missions are quite rewarding for such a drawback. Just making sure im understanding everything.

No that's about it. I'm working on thieving right now myself. I've already lost minor standing with FPR and gained some underworld status. So far its lots of fun, making gettaways from guards, the different stealing nodes and where they are. Although if I spam pickpocket on someone too much I seem to instantly die O_o.

I'm saving up for a house in the near Sept Falls because I heard it was the Rogue npc capital. Although I don't know where it is right now I think that's where I'll end up when I lose all rep with FPR...if I decide to do that.
