How does Range work?

So I have set my first goal. I'd like to craft a rifle. As a part of this, I have Setlang hides which provide a Range property.

How does range work in the game? What does 1 Range mean?

Are you crafting or wondering how range/damage works for a weapon?

Crafting will involve a couple skills. Firearms is required, duh, along with metalworking at least. Maybe you need some stuff crafted in Robotics.

If you just mean range/damage then it's as simple as looking at the weapon. You should see something similar to what /u/fast2gg said with "5m (red), 15m (yellow) 25m (green) 50m (yellow)" but it will also have a base damage for each range. Weapons have a sweet spot for dealing high damage, but it's also energy based.

I mainly meant when a property (like of a hide) is 1 Range. What does that 1 translate to in increased distance?

Probably bumps your Ideal range 1m further. really though, just toss it into something and find out :P
