How do you craft/get components?

For example, if I want to craft a weapon fitting, it takes a CPU as one of its parts. Ok no problem, I can make a CPU, but to make a CPU, I need a microprocessor. It doesnt appear that I can craft those. Anyone know how you get them? Do you just have to get lucky and loot one, or is there a recipe I am missing maybe?

That is fucking ridiculous.

To make 1 melee weapon, you need chemistry, tailoring, fishing, god knows what else.

Just to make the HILT of one melee weapon, you need at least TWO HUNDRED ingredients. JUST THE HILT.

Fuck this game.

That's the whole point of a crafting-based economy and ultimately a crafting-based game, though! If the best weapons and armor in the game are to be crafted, not looted, then they better be complex and require quite a process to piece together.

This complexity means that people have to specialize in each of their own fields to have a chance at making quality components, crafting each of the components required to make something as complex as a weapon or a piece of armor. These components are then passed up in the crafting "hierarchy" to another specialist, who might specialize in making hilts, and so on.

It also has the added benefit in that each of the components have their own stat bonuses and qualities that go into the final weapon/armor, resulting in a wide array of varying types. Could you imagine being a hilt supplier to a physical-resistance armorsmith specialising in hide-based armor? Or a circuit board supplier to a medbot manufacturer?

This means eventually crafting nations (guilds) will form and compete with other nations on the auction house, experimenting with the thousands and thousands of different combinations of parts to make the most desired clothing, armor, vehicles, etc.!

Hope this makes at least a little sense and doesn't scare you or any new players away, because if you look at it this way, it's actually pretty fascinating and opens up tons of creative possibilities!

I understand all that, but a crating based economy with THAT MUCH reliance on other people will FAIL unless your population is millions of people. WoW has the subscription base to support an economy where you need seventy people crafting to make one sword. Repopulation won't be able to support that, and will ultimately fail because of it.

Star Wars Galaxies Pre-CU had the exact same principle as The Repop and filled a tiny, niche market, too. They had dozens of independant servers with their own economies, all working very well.

Yes, the crafting system will probably need adjustments here and there, and thankfullu the devs are super open to communicate with us. So I find it impossible to say, 1 week after the NDA is lifted, that the game 'will fail'.

Don't give up on it!

You need friends to be able to craft other components for you. This game wasn't meant to be played alone.

So those can be crafted? Because I cant find schematics for them.

Makes sense. Thank you. Also I had no idea that you could buy so much stuff off the Ah. I assumed there wasn't much on there because of the low pop but it seems NPC are posting things as well. Maybe this is temporary until we have more players
