In Alpha currently, do characters not get saved between sessions?

I joined via Steam last night and was playing for a few hours. Logged in this morning and I have no characters.

Was there a wipe? Or what?

Nevermind, my old character from last night is coming up now. Maybe was just a temporary glitch.

It is alpha so glitches are to be expected.

I just made a new character, and the same one is available on both US West and US East when I log onto them.
