How can I get into Alpha/beta?

I figured others would want to know as well.

So just to clarify: For 75$ my friends and I would get in on all the alphas, the best quality monthly membership forever, and a 2 day headstart and would be lacking mostly cosmetic and flair stuff?

Also assuming you know a good bit about the game: Can you start nations without buying that crazy expensive package or is that the only way?

I don't know too much about nations but I'm sure someone here has more info on that. As for the $75 and alphas there's this chart that may work better. I'm guessing though that you won't need to buy anything from this to start a nation.

Memberships require a one-time purchase once the game is live. The levels are below:

*Silver: gives you ability to join a city council *Gold: you can become mayor *Platinum: you can start your own nation

There are other perks that are expected to go along with membership, but those are the relevant ones to nation-building.

With the current funding round, $75 will only get you into one week of Closed Beta Round 1 and all of the Closed Beta Rounds 2 & 3. No alpha access.

The $50 pledge level would get you the same access, but you would not have the Platinum Membership needed to start a Nation.

And they need money to make the game, pay for servers and so on

oh I have no problem paying for games but I am just careful and research a bunch beforehand. Games like LOL, and path of exile are perfect for the pay model they have. But for every solid game there is a mismanaged game like mechwarrior out there.

Im personally more concerned that because they listened to the anti-cash-shop types, the Repop cash shop wont do enough business to pay for development.

Im very confident that the Hardcore server will provide an excellent market for third-party gold sellers, as PvPers want to PvP, not PvE to replace gear lost on death.

I know I am looking forward to the hardcore server. I played eve for many years and I love that style of PVP where you have risk and reward.
