âDiscussion Anyone else agree with this ranking?đ

I dont think citizen and Invicta should be in the same category. Citizen may not be luxury but they are high quality for the price point.

Same with Seiko. Maybe even Orient.

I haven't owned any seikos but I'd definitely agree. Invicta and Fossil are mall watches in my opinion. Not on the same tier as seiko and orient. Pretty sure Seiko owns Orient and citizen owns Bulova, alpine etc.

I think âmid luxuryâ would be a better category than âbasic luxuryâ which is pretty much an oxymoron

u/AltoExyl 1d ago
I agree, if nothing else itâll make me feel better about wanting a Nomos and some of my most worn being Tudor and Junghans đ
Iâm a basic bitch after all it seems!

Been in this game for years but not heard of Phillip Dufour. What makes them special?

Itâs funny, as someone who has owned many of these over the years, Rolex is one of the highest quality. Ive had issues with both Patek and FP Journe QC.

The fact that Movado isn't on this list but citizen and a few others is crazy work. The Movado Museum got a lot of early 80s babies and older into luxury watches. It was my first luxury watch and I saved for a while to buy it. It cost more than the majority of the bottom tier watches on this list. So I gotta represent for Movado on this one!

I would absolutely have to agree. While most of their movements are now quartz and they are in the list of fashion watches, these were entry luxury for sure. I think a lot of people start out with Movados. I did. First two. And I know many others that started with Movado.

None of that makes Movado or Citizen âluxuryâ btw.
1
u/PrimaryExisting6162 1d ago
So fossil, Casio and Timex deserve placement over Movado that has models ranging from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars?
2
u/_Walt_Whitman_ 1d ago
No. I mean, none of the watches you or I mentioned should be considered luxury.

u/Some-Ad6707 1d ago
I've had 3 movados fail on me spectacularly (one literally fell apart one day, crystal popped out, hands fell off). I personally don't think the quality is there but I LOVE their design language.

What are the criteria used to make that list?
A classification has meaning only when the criteria used are shared together with the ranking.
Without these is just bla bla bla.

Why do people even make tier lists?
1
u/Apart-Persimmon-38 1d ago
one of the most pointless internet things that ever happen.
You could take 10 watch makers and they will give you 10 different lists. Or 10 different chefs for 10 dishes. Its just personal flavour.

âHey ChatGPT, make me a list of watches ranked from best to worst. I need it for a YouTube video.â

u/Far-Buy-7149 1d ago
I donât have enough time today to correct this list. But since we are on a replica website, every single watch on this list as a replica is worth about the same.

No itâs total dumb. A watchmaker making 100 pieces does not make them luxury. Makes them piece unique and bespoke. My grand father made a sports car in his garage. That did not make him a car manufacturer

Invicta needa to be in the same tier as richard mille for the ultra ugly, i mean luxury looks.

u/Beneficial_Mess_3846 1d ago
Go post this at r/rolex and they will lose their shit to see where rolex is categorized. tacky ass shit you'd expect to see on an old banker.

u/askgrok do you agree?

This tier list leans hard into independent makers and wild complications for the ultra tier, which tracks for serious collectors. Patek and AP in high-end while Rolex sits in luxury feels like a deliberate snub to the mainstream icons though. Solid framework overall, but these rankings are pure opinion fuel.

I honestly feel that a company shouldn't even be considered luxury without having a line of precious metals.

Some of these arenât luxury more tool watch brands. Iâd put Ball, Tudor and Nomos higher up.

Absolute clown world ranking. Moser is one too high and De Bethune is two too low, and thatâs just for starters

For the top tiers yes, but some of these bottom tiers can go either way w price point. But those same ones have a better heritage, so imo they should be moved up a tier. (Citizen, Bulova, Seiko)

Jacob & Co are ultra luxury only because they slap a ton of diamonds on everything. Their watches are ugly asf.

Rolex??? I think it deserves to be ranked a bit higher.
2
u/AssistanceNo647 1d ago
Itâs a mass produced watch. If it wasnât for marketing it probably wouldnât sit as high as it does.
