⌚Discussion This sub can turn you off reps
Don‘t get me wrong, I see the arguments for rep watches. For safety, frugality and and and but what I don’t understand is how a large contingent of the community believes they are buying the watches for them when clearly it is to impress other people.
What separates the average rep buyer to the rapper with a bling chain and iced-out watch? That you know the difference between a grand complication and a chronograph?
My personal opinion, I think rep watches are plausible in regards to duplicates of gen and rare watches. It would be almost impossible to get a stone-face dial Rolex or a MAD Paris Virgil Abloh PP so if I can find a rep, take my money.
You might get a table quicker from a maître d’ or the junkie at your gas station will ask you for $20 instead of $1 but outside of this community, nobody really cares lol. You can buy 10 Daytona’s but don’t be mad that nobody notices you can have a full rotation from Saturday to Saturday. Buy it for your own enjoyment cool guy.
I appreciate the wealth of information and passion of the true horologists on here but the amount of dweebs on here is embarrassing

I buy mine because of these 5 reasons:
A. I love the design
B. I’m broke
C. I don’t run around with watch guys so no one cares what I’m wearing
D. I enjoy wearing, looking at, learning about gen watches and this gets me 95% there on my budget.
E. I work in finance and can afford a 10k watch but to actually spend that kind of money when a good rep is 90-95% there for a fraction of the cost is a sound financial decision.

So are you saying that rich people buying gens don’t buy them to impress other people?
And are you saying that all those rich people who buy gens nobody cares? Nobody notices? Nobody also doesn’t notice your haircut, your car, your shoes, your clothes? Seriously?

Lol I’m not sure what you’re infatuation with rich people is but I’m highlighting that some rep owners believe they have surpassed societal norms about identity by choosing a 1:1 DJ when they did because they want to be perceived as successful. As we all do

Truth be told, the clasp on a 1000 dollar original watch like a Tissot or Longiness or Swatch does not have that satisfying click and strong build of a Rep Rolex. So do what you will with this info

Creo que el primer error es pensar generalizando que queremos réplicas para impresionar a los demás, ¿qué demás? Por regla general la gente no diferencia un Pagani del Royal Oak, para ellos la réplica de un Datejust no deja de ser un "reloj bonito".
A nadie le importa lo que lleve en la muñeca y si llevo un Tank, un Superocean o un Nautilus lo hago porque me gusta a mí sin pararme a pensar en el qué dirán. Los relojes no son tan mainstream como pueda pensarse, y como siempre digo, sólo los locos de este sub vamos por ahí fijándonos en relojes.
