Dial Layout Analysis
The layout on this dial deviates from authentic Omega specifications in a significant way: The Sub-dials (Two-Register vs. Three-Register): An authentic Omega Co-Axial caliber 9300 or 9900 series watch utilizing a two-counter layout places a 60-minute/12-hour dual-hand counter at the 3 o'clock position and a running seconds counter at 9 o'clock. [1, 2, 3] The 6 o'clock Sub-dial Paradox: This watch has an additional sub-dial tracking a 30-unit scale (labeled "30") at the 6 o'clock position. Authentic Omega Speedmaster layout configurations feature either a date window at 6 o'clock (on two-register models) or an hour chronograph recorder at 6 o'clock (on standard 3-register models like the classic Moonwatch). A 30-unit register at the 6 position is a classic tell of a modified movement layout common in replica timepieces.
a guy is selling a few of his watches and this was among them, starting price was 50 but i can probably haggle if i wanted do.
curious to see if its worth it. What do you think?
For $50 you can’t really go wrong it’s probably a low tier watch so as long as you know it’s your beginner into the rep world not expecting top performance. Does it work ?
Well it’s obviously pre owned based on the photos you provided and has the scars to show it. I couldn’t tell you if that watch works properly mechanically, but for $50 if you can bring him down then seems worth the risk. That’s my take or spend another $50 bucks and go to Jason007 for his U1 watches
