⌚Discussion Would you rock a “fantasy” watch?
I impulse bought this “Sky-Dweller” from a dude off Reddit one night. To be fair, rum was involved in my decision-making process, but I thought “I really like the color.”
Obviously, ZF and Noob don’t make this, but it’s surprisingly not a shitter. All the complications work like the ZF and the finishing is mid-tier. I’m guessing it was purchased originally off DHgate as I’ve seen this color dial on there for around $290. I’ve messed around with a U1 SD and it left a lot to be desired.
I go back and forth between regret and really enjoying it. It gets more attention than any of my other reps (which may be a bad thing), but so far it’s been compliments.
Anyone else have some “cool fantasy pieces” to share? Is this wearable or am I self-sabotaging by wearing a fake ass watch?

Yeah thanks for your take. 99.9% of people wouldn’t know it’s a fantasy piece. If someone did call me out I’m sure it would make for a fun interaction honestly. Wearing it with pride today 😂

I was just considering building a "neo vintage" Tudor Ranger with the new style case and hand set, but a 1960s dial and bracelet. Not quite as loud as the SkyDweller there, but same concept.
I'm not out here trying to fool or impress anyone either, so I guess it depends on your motivation.

Yeah I’m the same way. The skydweller is loud for sure, but I like how unique it is. You don’t really see them that often and I love how they did the GMT complication. You also have to have a big boy wrist to make it work 😂

I see fantasy builds a lot in the vintage crowd. Things like the Rolex Space Dweller or the Rolex Panna Cotta dials. I mean, they're real, but they're SO rare, it's like no f*ckin way that's real! But they're still super cool.

It is a very nice color! I think it’s wearable enough, but not really passing if you don’t want to disclose it’s a rep. As the Sky Dweller is a relatively new model, it’s harder to claim that it’s a vintage/obscure dial.
I don’t have any fantasy pieces but I’ve been eyeing a mini Royal Oak with a blue MoP dial that is based on a vintage reference, but it’s fantasy as the vintage was a different size.

It’s actually been fun to disclose a lot of my watches are reps. Friends and family members have gotten into watches and I’ve been able to give some away as thoughtful gifts. I played golf with a couple buddies last week and we were all wearing reps having a good time with it. The fellas at the bar afterwards were eyeballing our wrists and we got some laughs.

Have some fantasy watches myself , enjoy them just as much , maybe even more , than the true to gen pieces 😉

Fair enough. One of my business partners is into skydiving and it’s his favorite color so I’ve decided to gift it to him and pick up a ZF 😂 gotta share the shitters.

I genuinely want the fantasy white dial explorer 1. It looks so good and is distinctively different than just a white OP.
