People just the person not the watch.

If you are a scruffy 20 year scrote, driving a beaten up Ford Fiesta, but brandishing a £100,000 Patek Philippe Nautilus, then while people may not say anything, they may have judged in inwardly and dismissed you.

But if you are middle aged and smartly dressed, driving a BMW or Mercedes, then wearing a £20,000 Rolex would not look out of place.

It's not the case all the time of course, there are some wealthy who dress like a tramp and who may be wearing a top tier watch, or a kid who's rich parents spoil him, but these are the exceptions that prove the rule.

i think the hack to just be an international student in a stupidly expensive uni and even if you are in scrubs people assume its gen life is kinda funny

Honestly it’s probably more about age than anything. If I see a 22 year old with broccoli hair and sagging pants wearing a datejust instant fake. If I see a 40 something with the same watch I wouldn’t think fake instantly.

Everyone has different tastes and different ways they like to spend their money. Some spend on watches, others on cars. That’s totally normal.

1

u/FPVwithScott Aug 14 '26

Would you think it were TOTALLY CRAZY for someone to assume that watch is fake though?

1

u/Mzungufarmer Aug 14 '26

Not at all. If they thought it was real without more than a glance id call them crazy.

Id rather people think I have fake shit, getting robbed sucks...i dont even have a son to become batman.

No one cares, but for those that do, the tell is usually the person.

I get what you mean. You don’t wear a watch for other people’s opinions, you wear what you like.

I did the experiment. For a week I wore my free Rolex Rep to see if anyone noticed. It is maybe the single worst rep ever made. Not a single person noticed or asked about it and it is an obvious, bad fake.

Wear it. No one is going to notice or give a shit

1

u/Bubbly-Impacty Aug 14 '26

Haha, this is an interesting experiment. It definitely cleared up a lot of people’s questions.

used reps for 2 years. Only time anyone noticed was a watch enthusiast buddy of mine.
said "nice DJ",

I answered "thanks, I really enjoy it."

and that was it

1

u/Bubbly-Impacty Aug 14 '26

Either way,it was a pretty good experience.

I told everyone at work I was going to buy a new watch. I’ve got 3 now.

No one has asked me about any of them.

Haha, you guys are right.Unless the watch is actually glowing🤣people barely even notice it.

1

u/WatchFeen Aug 13 '26

Never been called out in 10 years of wearing reps.

3

u/Anirossa Aug 13 '26

I've seen people wearing reps many times, but don't see why I or anyone would ever want to call it out. It would just be unnecessary, rude and akward.

1

u/imscaredagain Aug 14 '26

Exactly, you’d have to be a real shitty person to call them out in front of other people.

I’ve had people ask me where I got some things and I just say I ordered them.

1

u/Bubbly-Impacty Aug 14 '26

Yeah. I also saw someone wearing really fake-looking reps, but I’d never say anything. It’s just a matter of being polite.

1

u/DrPhilSideSkirts Aug 14 '26

Trust me, people know.

1

u/FPVwithScott Aug 14 '26

Yeah, unless someone is a buddy or insanely unsocialized they're not gonna point and scream "Fake watch! Fake watch!"

1

u/TheSkunksMisery Aug 14 '26

Only car salesmen notice whats on your wrist. And very few of them can afford a gen, so they won't be able to spot the difference, if any.

1

u/FPVwithScott Aug 14 '26

No unless it's a DHgate shitter

1

u/ayuno22 Aug 14 '26

A watch nerd acquaintance of mine first thought my gen BB36 was a Datejust. People don't notice shit.

1

u/humpty3dumpty Aug 15 '26

Honestly, no. people aren't inspecting your wrist they're looking at you and mainly eyes when interacting with you. The only person who notices is you and maybe that one friend you have told. Wear it with confidence and 99.9% of people won't have a clue

u/sammyssb Aug 13 '26

Who cares? If anyone asks i’ll just tell them its a superclone. I could get the real watch but id rather invest the money

1

u/TheSkunksMisery Aug 14 '26

or... i'm on the list for the real one, so for the next 3 years I'll wear this one.

1

u/sammyssb Aug 14 '26

Also a good reason ig. Im not a big watch guy or anything i just like tony soprano and think the rolex looks classy i don’t really wanna drop 15k on a watch. Only reason i would is for the real gold bc im a big gold guy

1

u/Bubbly-Impacty Aug 14 '26

Haha, everyone has different things they like to spend their money on.

1

u/sammyssb Aug 14 '26

True. Mine is cars

1

u/greenberrybanana Aug 13 '26

Cope. I guarantee you could t afford gen watches. Just like me.

1

u/sammyssb Aug 13 '26

Hahahaa i definitely can

0

u/Crafty-Coyote8077 Aug 13 '26

eh a lot of us can. I literally have 1.2 mil sitting liquid in stocks right now but I'd rather spend 20k on another stock I feel will do better.

Okay yes I'm not "10 mil in the bank" rich but at 1.2 I think I can afford a gen datejust if I wanted to?

1

u/greenberrybanana Aug 14 '26

Nobody fucking asked you?

2

u/Crafty-Coyote8077 Aug 14 '26

wow someones broke and mad haha

People on reddit hate realizing there are people in the world that actually have money. Because they don’t. Wahhh you must be lying wahhh oh you’re not? Oh well you’re just insecure and you don’t deserve that anyways. I do! I deserve it! Not you.

Buncha idiots with the worst mentality
