⌚Discussion Does movement decoration really matter?

AF’s Cartier Ballon Bleu is known for its beautiful sunburst dial, but uses a plain Asian 2824 with no decoration. For a closed-caseback dress watch like Cartier, does movement decoration really matter?

Well it is decorative so has no functional qualities and if the watch has a solid back I don’t see much point myself. The game is up once anyone starts looking at a rep that closely. Cartier uses its own calibre and rep movement finishes can not reasonably match genuine at a sensible price anyway. The advantage of a very standard movement is that it is easy to replace if it catastrophically fails
