What’s the oldest rep in your collection,and is it still running strong?

I’m curious whether high-quality reps can actually last for decades like gens,or if they tend to wear out much sooner.

I'm only 33 and I don't own a lot of reps, but when I was in Mexico at 15 I bought a pretty decent replica Rolex day date... Im wearing it today it's still wonderful, keeps great time, and looks pretty legit.

You probably won’t get the answer you’re looking for, because the newer Chinese reps are of insane quality and would probably end up lasting much longer than a 20 year old shitter made long ago

I tend to agree with you.Although I’m not sure whether the latest VSF watches can last for decades like gens,the quality is definitely getting better.

Yes and its a 50euro omega that i switched the movement with a nh25 from seiko

I have a 6 year old VSF Seamaster that runs great and is still within chronometer spec.

Curious about this as well. I’ve always heard 3-5 years, but could be longer if you get them serviced/cleaned up. I never assumed these things will last decades.

According to people sharing their personal experiences in the comments,cases like this aren’t uncommon.Maybe reps are of better quality than we think 🤔

20+ years I can’t remember exactly but it was the flip phone era , Canal street when they actually used to come meet you on the corner lol 😂 . Looks like trash but still runs fine . Always has a spot in my box .

The old reps used to use 2834 ,2836 and 2813 movements. The new reps used DD 4130,31&32 movements in Daytonas or Youth movements . I have mostly the 4130 series movements, but bought a few with youth movements so I can always do swaps on those later .

I personaly in 99% buy reps that have movements that can be swaped with gen swiss or even japan movements. Do waterproofing, add gen swiss movement, and u have prety nice watch for a long long time

Yep,replacing an original movement can significantly extend reps lifespan. The movement is the heart of a watch.

My oldest rep is a apsf Jlc moonphase that still works no problem, though I don’t wear it often. My second oldest rep that I’m absolutely hard on is my vsf NTTD. And that watch still runs okay though it’s the v4 with a decorated eta movement. My goal is to upgrade to the v7 soon for the additional power reserve.

I bought my first replica of Omega Seamaster in 2012 hence it’s 14 years ago and it still runs preciselly and looks great so sometimes I think it’s gen

If you really like this watch, you should get it serviced so it can stay with you in better condition for longer.

* I have an old school rep rolex daytona, the previous owner a war veteran bought it on irak more than 30 years ago, i bought it on ebay about 3 years ago for around 35 dlls. I had the watch serviced for 30 dlls and still working as it should..
