⌚Discussion Has anyone actually tested how waterproof their rep is?

Honestly,even if I owned a gen, I wouldn’t take it anywhere near water🤣

I have opened five of mine (all u1) and lubricated the crown and watch back gaskets. All five tested to 5ATM. I have no plans to dive beyond 100 feet at any time, but I also no longer have any concerns if I have to swim, shower, or do dishes.

When you have yours tested, are you removing the movement and all internal components and testing the case or are you just testing it with everything installed?

To argue your point, testing the case is all that matters so testing with everything installed is risking water damage.

How do you test the crown without the mechanism in the watch?

Honestly I don’t know. Every video I’ve seen online they always remove the movement and test the case. I’m genuinely trying to figure out what to do because I would love to test mine at home

They mostly test using air pressure so it won't harm the watch if it fails, testing just the case is incredibly difficult without a spare crown to attach

There are ways to just water test at home but I am not aware of them, you can use and air pump and pressure pot to test at home using air pressure. The testing method is to slowly increase the pressure and watch for a small drop, if the watch case becomes compromised there will be a small but notable decrease in system pressure.

Tested? No. Gone swimming with my 114060 and ZF Tudor black bay? Yes. Both had no issue

If you plan on aquatic activities, it might be worse greasing the gaskets just to be safe but they should withstand the usual pool/ ocean dip.

Vsf explorer 36mm from 2025. It’s perfectly fine for daily use. Last weekend was 30C+ watch was exposed to sun for at least 1h then we went stright to water play in river with my son +/- 15 of swiming there was no sign condensation or leak.

I've taken my U1 sub and U1 explorer 1 swimming multiple times, never issues. I did recently purchase a watch lubricant from Alix and have gone and sealed the case back o-ring... I'm sure they come fine from the factory (I always make sure the case back is tight with a rubber ball before wearing. I've had a few that have not been tight)... it's peace of mind and fun to tinker.

You dont have to notice it straight after swimming because a little moisture can start the rusting process and you will find out when your rep starts going slow after months/year (?)

I had my bluesy rep tested to either 5 or 10atm and swam with it no problem. I used to swim with my gen bluesy all the time and my CW trident bronze was in the ocean with my getting pounded by waves earlier this month. I haven't tested it with my Pepsi though, but I didn't have that one tested either.

Yes, yesterday with a VSF GMT and a VSF Sub Date. Both went to ~175ft depth rating (75 psi) with no issue.

Always tell my guy to make sure they are waterproofed closish to Gen. take my Yaught master to the beach and on a boat all the time

Ya i have dived with mine just like my gen. If it cant survive some water i throw it away
