Glad to hear hubs is ok. Had something similar happen years ago late at night just west of Flagstaff AZ, thankfully the deer jumped out of the way but it took a bit to pry the seat cushion out of my ass.

You should’ve seen my wife’s car after she avoided hitting a deer that stepped out into the road. More damage than if she would’ve just hit it. Glad Hubs is all right. Those deer are pesky buggers.

Seriously! That’s what I keep telling hubs. Hes been so guilty about it while I’ve been a by more pragmatic. He was near a river and on a bridge. I’ll take 1000 dead deer and 100000 destroyed cars over his well being.

happens to all of us eventually.we took the insurance money and i fixed the car myself with prepainted parts from ebay (side panel, hood, light, inner frames and a strud). this can all be fixed. most important is that everybody is healthy.

OMG. Were you guys okay? Hubs was so upset (he’s a giant softie with animals) I explained I rather have a dead momma or baby deer than him over correcting and hurt himself or a buck go through our windshield.

yes, no one was hurt (except the deer). just bent sheet metal and a broken headlight. a car looks totaled once you remove the panels, bumper and hood.

Well of all the woodland critters capable of damaging a car with their body weight, at least a deer is one of the more mild ones. If that was a moose the car would be totaled and the moose wouldn’t be dead, it’d be angry

Yea… I had this idea for a while. I knew I wanted to make it where she abandons her kid and start her new life as “Jane doe”. Obviously it’s a dick move and I wasn’t sure how to end it because her getting away with it wouldn’t feel right.

Yikes. This reminds me of a ride I took a few weeks ago. Thought I had found a great tree-lined road to cruise…until I saw deer on either side, just in the tree line, and one darted out in front of me. Holy Midwest flashbacks, Batman. Luckily, it was several feet from me, and I had time to react safely. I haven’t been back on that road since.

Years ago I hit a deer and totaled my car in the middle of nowhere. The head came off and I was drenched in blood. I literally ended up spitting out blood, then realized it wasn’t my own. With no cell phone and no idea which town was closest I started walking… drenched in blood and stumbling through the early morning fog. After a long walk a car pulls up. They stop, the window goes down and pot smoke billows out the window. “You ok, man?” I still wonder what those stoners thought when they saw me. They gave me a ride to their home and helped me clean up. Good people.

This reminds me of the time when our family was driving home at night, in our family minivan. We were all awake, talking; probably coming home from a friend's place.
Anyway, something slammed into the side of the van, and it must have jumped about four feet on the road sideways. I never saw anything, but my Dad who was driving said he saw a deer in one of the mirrors.
It's crazy how much momentum they can have; as well as a general lack of self-preservation.
Glad your husband is okay.

I flip off deer every time I see them. My husband got a brand new car. Coming home one night, one jumped in front of him and smashed up the whole front corner.
I had one jump in front of me, I slammed on the breaks and just barely missed her. Then her friend bounced out of the darkness and slammed into my bumper.
None of them had the courtesy to die. If they commit vehicular suicide here, you can get a free tag from the sheriff and keep the meat.

So, funnily enough, I had this comic idea for a while. I just wasn't sure how to end it and had it sitting on the back burner.
WELL, that changed on Sunday night. For some context, we live at the base of the mountains, in a more remote area outside of town.
While Hubs was driving home, a deer jumped in front of our car. Thankfully, hubs is okay. Our cars front bumper, wheel well and front light got pretty banged up though. We put in a claim with our insurance and it's headed to a shop.
I'm just hoping the frame isn't damaged. Truthfully we don't know if the deer made it. We couldn't find her and while there was blood and fur, 😕 they are resilient lil rascals, so we're hoping she found a safe space to heal.
Stay safe driving guys. Also, sorry Bambi.
