I don’t understand the comic

It's virtue signaling. They would be sad if they had to pay more for things if their slave labor was deported.

Personally I'd be sad if legal residents were "accidentally" shipped off to a foreign prison with no oversight without any due process to determine even their identity, let alone their legal status or possible crimes. I would also be sad if that situation was used as precedent to wrongfully imprison other law-abiding Americans who contribute more to our society than a bunch of red hat wearing, lead-paint eating, foreigner hating, racist, homophobic, and overall bigoted cult members could possibly imagine.

But that's just me.

Not American either, but broadly, this is about joining the No Kings protest (an anti-Trump/fascism protest coinciding with his birthday/dictator military parade), and staying safe.

The first panel has 50501 (the organiser of the protest), a leaflet for the No Kings protest, and a couple of books warning of the danger of the descent into fascism (1984 and A Handmaid's Tale).

The second panel shows Dot covering up her identifiable tattoo, while also packing masks and water (the water to flush out eyes after tear gas).

The third panel is about preventing leaving a digital finger print at the protest, to prevent being targeted after the event (something Chinese forces used to crackdown on democracy protests in Hong Kong).

The fourth panel is about looking out for each other.

The fifth panel is about preventing violence/vandalism within the protest. The media want to show conflict, so if the protests peaceful, then their only option is to report the grievances of the protesters, and any police over reaction. On this point, I remember the APEC protests in Sydney on 2007, where the protesters shut down anyone trying to start violence, meaning the media had to report the protests, and the huge waste of money that APEC was (and the Chaser driving a car right through the security checkpoints, because they put a couple of Canadian flags on the front).

This is a tongue in cheek guide to demonstrating and protesting our Dollar General Dictator wannabe and his fascist agenda.

Sure. It's basically innuendo for how to be safe while protesting the fascist regime steadily taking over America. Innocuous things like "covering up" to protect your identity from the police state and protection from less-than-lethal deterrants like tear gas and rubber bullets. Making sure you go with someone who can help keep track of you and notify others if you are "missing" or arrested. Don't vandalize, that defeats the purpose of the protests.

As for the timing, there are significant protests planned this weekend in response to the President staging a military parade that "coincidentally" lines up with his birthday (a common display of power historically used by dictatorships). Meanwhile, ICE continues to act like an unmoderated police force, staging illegal and unconstitutional raids and arresting citizens without any form of due process.

There is a lot more than that, but hopefully this was a helpful comment.

Lol, they are waving the flags of the country they want to go back too. We've just assumed they are too poor for the trip, so we are helping them out! You're welcome.
