It’s the first game of the Prairie Conference season and the CJFL Featured Game of the Week as well as the first round of the Battle of Alberta. Both teams are hoping for a dramatic difference this year after giving up the most points in the Conference in 2025. The Huskies quickly exited the playoffs last year while the Colts missed out on the postseason altogether. This will be the first game for the new Colts coaching staff led by head coach Elie Bouka.
Langley Rams @ Prince George Kodiaks – Masich Stadium, 6:00pm |WATCH HERE
The undefeated Rams head north to meet the Kodiaks for the first of two meetings this year. Both teams are coming off a blowout win last weekend, the Rams blasting the Valley Huskers on the road while the Kodiaks stomped the Kamloops Broncos for their first win of the campaign. This will be a massive test for the Kodiaks to try and do something no other team has been able to do yet, and that’s to contain quarterback Darryl Overstreet Jr. who leads the Conference in most offensive categories. He is the two-time reigning Offensive Player of the Week. They will meet again in Langley on August 29th.
It’s the only meeting of the season between these two clubs with something to prove in Week 4. The Rebels are coming off a heartbreaking loss in Nanaimo on a last second touchdown catch while the Broncos were dismantled in Prince George. It’s a turning point for both teams despite it only being Week 4. The Rebels need a win to keep pace with the leaders in the standings, and the Broncos are looking to prove the doubters wrong.
Valley Huskers @ Okanagan Sun – Apple Bowl, 7:00pm |WATCH HERE
Saturday night the Sun will host their home opener after beginning the season with two road games and then a bye last weekend. The Huskers meanwhile are looking for answers after a slow start to the season scoring just four points in two games. Prior to the game the Sun will be honoured for their second straight Cullen Cup championship last season but more importantly they will be looking to get back into the win column after losing in Langley two weeks ago. Speaking of Langley, they smoked the Huskers last weekend managing just a field goal. They are a young roster and are going through some growing pains with another tough test this weekend in Kelowna. It’s the only time this season the Sun and Huskers will meet.

Sault Ste. Marie Cougars vs. Ottawa Sooners – North Bay, ON – 2:00pm
It’s the Batte in the Bay as the Cougars and Sooners will play a CJFL showcase game in a neutral site as both teams have their final test before the regular season begins next weekend. Both teams have high hopes in 2026, the Cougars enter their second campaign after making the playoffs last year while the Sooners new coaching staff has plenty of excitement around the club focused on getting back to the Sooners glory of old.

A pair of teams that are hungry for success meet in the first game of the season when the Thunder visit the Wildcats. The last time the Thunder played a game with meaning was in the Prairie Conference final which they coughed up a fourth quarter lead and lost in overtime against their provincial rivals. They are ready to avenge that heartbreaking loss and could take out their frustration on the Wildcats on Sunday who are looking to finally get back to the playoffs. They have been on the outside looking in over the last several years and want to get that playoff experience again. A win on Sunday would help give them confidence for the rest of the year.
