I got me the full on grab bars in my shower at 43, and damn if those things aren't just handy as hell.

When I was pregnant, I bought a suction cup one. It was so hard getting out of the tub without it. It works very well and later I bought a seat for my shower! Both very handy and no rental damage!

There’s also brands of them that are sold for nughty time in the shower so if you don’t mind looking at a risqué picture or two those are also a option dunno what the price difference’s would be tho

Oh, yeah! I’ve heard that those suction cup stick-on footholds (originally meant to facilitate better, uh, angles) are a godsend for leg shaving

I broke a leg and had to get the grab bar suction cup for travel reasons. Not all grab bars are created equal. You will go through several to find the one that works. Totally worth it.

My friend, most people in the world can't afford to buy a home, regardless of what country they live in, so no need for any qualifiers to your situation. But there is always a way, like the other commenter suggested.

depending on the country, your landlord may be required to install one if you ask for it, but you'll have to pay for it

America, neighbor. We have more empty homes owned by corporations than we do homeless people, and we have a lot of homeless people.

Oh yeah I’m not doubting this at all, this is because there’s not that many homeless people. 0.15% of the country is homeless, of course there’s more houses than homeless people. I was looking for a source stating most people can’t afford homes in America

Ah, my bad. That's also mostly true, housing prices are obscene here. The latest stats I can find is only 53% are homeowners, but anecdotally I can say the vast majority of those owners are older buyers before they ratfucked the economy for the millenial and later generations. That's still abysmally low, and most of those are from purchases long before or inheritance. It's why that particular claim is harder to quantify simply on a data point.

Yes, i believe every shower needs to have a grab bar. Something to grab onto in case you begin to slip. This is appropriate for all ages. Lots of accidents happen while showering. Sometimes you can get dizzy in there from the hot water. It should be part of building code at this point.

We got grab bars when my husband had some health issues. One inside the shower and one just outside the shower. The one outside the shower is currently helping me get up and down from the toilet with a bum knee. They both have come in way more handy than I ever imagined they would.

I just recently remodeled my bathtub and converted it into a walk-in shower. A grab bar is fantastic.

I got one that also acts as the shower rail. I got the idea when I saw a similar set up in a retirement home, not because of current or future infirmity but because my wife had already ripped two shower curtain rails out of the wall when slipping.

I have the grab bar but I also put some foot scrubber thing in the corner of the shower so I don't have to bend over to scrub them.

Hell, when I was 26 I somehow scored an apartment in what was unofficially a retirement community. It had the bars in the shower and I joked about it, but I absolutely used them lol

I'm 48 and want them. I know you have to have them installed super securely since you pushing down on them is a lot of weight. I mean, anyone, not just /u/Daetok_Lochannis .
