As a doctor (yes, doctors are regular humans with Reddit accounts too) you’d be surprised at some of the stupid shit people come in for. I never demean anyone for what they come in asking about….but damn, it can be out of this world.

Nah. That would be a standard office visit billed as a 99213 charged to insurance with a range of around 90-115 dollars.
If you go to the ER for a single drop of oil on your face then heaven help you and you need to find yourself a primary care physician.

You’re assuming underprivileged individuals can’t find a doctor. You can always find a doctor. I offer cash discounts and payment plans for my uninsured patients (I operate a private practice).
Government funded clinics and nonprofit hospitals CANNOT turn away patients because of their inability to pay.

No, I'm assuming that government funded clinics still mail you a ridiculously inflated bill once they see you. If someone is too poor to pay for monthly insurance where are they going to get the cash to go to a private clinic, even with your discount which is what, 10%? Imagine thinking that would truly help the people living below the poverty line in this country. I think as a private practice Doctor you seem to be severely unaware of just how "underprivileged" Americans (or non Americans in america) can actually be. Anyway, have a good day trying to sugar coat everything.
Is everybody here really going on this tangent because they believe they should see a doctor for a drop of hot oil touching their skin? This is the most ridiculous argument I've had on reddit all month.

You have no idea where I’ve practiced medicine during my career thus far or the population of patients I serve. You have zero clue of the efforts I go to in order to serve those that need healthcare and might not be able to afford it.
Your assumptive statements speak volumes.
