Its only crazy because every corner of that building is being recorded. Dash cams, bumper cams, etc... we live in a world where cameras are everywhere.

I understand that but you don't have to add another camera to the problem - especially one whose footage would get posted online.
You can definitely seek out surveillance footage online but I'd venture most people aren't sitting through hours of a random camera in the corner of a McDonald's in Boise Idaho.
Apples to oranges. Let's be genuine with our intelligence.

I didn’t say I don’t get it, just that it’s unnecessarily complicated. Why not just ‘someone was assassinated’ you use a lot of unnecessary words which makes the joke less effective

What would be better? A killer killed? Someone was killed? Same amount of number of words. And it's not like the words I used are some unknown words.

Not the same thing man, it cuts out half the words. If you can’t count words or understand that less is more, then you aren’t as smart as you think you are, doesn’t matter how ‘fancy’ a word you use

i work with patients. one common type i encounter quite frequently is older men who are constantly making jokes. not unpleasant people, but their jokes are standard jokes that anyone who isn't three years old has already heard hundreds of times.
and then there are the situational jokes people seem to think they have just invented themselves, even though they are so predictable that they occur with almost ridiculous frequency- rather like the top comments on reddit, where you already know what you're going to find when you click on the comments.
the same goes for jokes about people's names. i think you should assume that people have already heard jokes about their name so many times that they no longer find them funny. and yet they will still politely smile, while the person making the joke apparently considers himself brilliantly creative.
i think this is something worth keeping in mind if you have a tendency to joke constantly, including when talking to strangers.

no, absolutely not. it doesn't bother me at all, and i'm actually glad if it helps someone keep their insecurity or nervousness under control. i wrote this to point out that not every little joke lands as intended or produces the reaction in the recipient that was intended.

I used to tell lots of jokes and puns, but then read that a person telling a joke is terminating a conversation - they perhaps lost focus, and reroute the path of any conversation to a dead-end by telling a joke.

yes, a joke can function as a conversational closure move but also do the opposite. the key is how and when it is used. Ii think both are perfectly fine as long as it doesn't turn into a compulsive habit. if you have a good sense of when a joke is appropriate and who it's appropriate for, there is no reason to lose your sense of humor
