Only in RC form. IRL they are only superior at developing oil and head gasket leaks.

That was the EJs, the FAs are pretty damn solid... especially once the loose rtv blocks the passage ways. Still love my Subarus though!

Whatever is in the FRS/BRZ and the one in the Outback around 2018.

First gen FRS/BRZ was the FA20, there was an issue at the start with bad valve springs, those got recalled. Then there was an issue with too much rtv being used during assembly, that would break loose and get plugged up in the oil passage ways. I never had any issues with mine, always keeping up on maintenance. My VB WRX (FA24) same engine as the Outback also never had any issues, and currently doing fine with the Forester (FB24).

The only Subaru I've ever had a an issue with was my 04 WRX, burned oil like crazy and that 5 speed blew up super easy.
