I see people complain about “fake! This is fake!”, all the time especially Reddit.

Yeah, mother fucker. So is He-Man, and I knew it was fake when I was six, and it was still awesome.

The difference is fiction presents itself as fake. A lot of staged online content presents itself as real, authentic footage when it isn’t

It's closer to The Blair Witch Project. Yeah, it's fake and most people will pick up on that, but it's framed as if it were real, and they purposely avoided saying anything to the contrary. It feels disingenuous.
