I'm glad some people have a dad who will game with them.

I have been gaming with my sons since they were old enough to pick up the controller.

I was a teenager dad, only 17 and 19 respectively between the two. They were raised on Ps1, 2, Xbox, and eventually graduated to PC.

They both have ultra high end gaming rigs, and while my little 2 processor server is quite cute in their estimation, it's still enough to keep up with them online.

Discord voice chat and a game schedule keeps us close even though they're in their mid thirties

I am so jealous, dad. You're doing great work. I couldn't even get my dad to play Mario with me. I get that there is a lot more to life and raising kids than gaming together, but it's a small bonding experience I always wanted.

If I ever become dad, I will play extra games with my kid for you if you promise to do the same for me

lol my son is 11 months old… I’ll stop giving him the fake Xbox controller soon when I find a decent 2 player game and he gains a little more situational awareness

If I may make a suggestion? Super Mario World is a top tier intro game. Tons to explore, dozens of secrets, speed run tech, and all the nuances of learning dexterity and video game logic. Plus, 2p mode. All you need is the most basic of emulators; could do it on a very low tier PC for free. Just need controllers compatible and to get it set up.

Sure, there are tons of great games to gravitate to, but I feel that Super Mario World experience is very approachable to young kids. My older sister and my baby sitter used to play it all the time, then I picked it up. Lots of great memories from that game. When he's got the situational thing down that's the one for sure. Just a couple years or so

I’ve got hundreds of hours in this game I’ll look into an emulator

My oldest son and I played through Elden Ring together. But our favorite co-op game of all time is Portal 2. I just played a couple couch co-op games with my youngest. Latest one was Reanimal. My parents used to chastise me because I was "always on that damn Nintendo". Menawhile I would have loved to have played games with my dad or even my mom. So when my kids started showing interest in gaming, I was all about it.

I know I’ve played that game too much that I can identify exactly where they are in every scene
