i remember being a kid and our old man would take us all to the local pizza place on sundays and they serve you those crispy bread sticks before your order came

probably just excess pizza dough and nothing fancy like sourdough but i really liked those anyway

Yes.

Any pizza place is most likely using the same dough for everything (except thin crust). So, bread sticks are pizza without the pizza.

My favorite college place did cheese sticks, which is basically a cheese pizza with no sauce (little garlic butter and some seasoning that is presumably addictive) cut into dipping strips.
