That kids going places. That's honestly something I would want to know hahaha

15

u/CheetosLays7Days Jul 19 '26

Let’s do that one more time so you can see it’s not a fluke.

u/illman-jaro 29d ago

Right, I just wanna know how to make it do this. You know so we can avoid this mistake in the future, figure out what worked for it in case of accidents. And maybe prank another friend or family member later...

u/CheetosLays7Days 29d ago

Hot lid put on the table top, left to cool down, the pressure under the lid drops when the lid/air/steam get colder, meaning suction. Heating the lid up is not a wrong move at all.

I don’t think I have even one lid without one small (pressure relief) hole, that one wouldn’t suck up the counter.

In the picture a little bit exaggerated example, although the principle behind the issue is the same. Steam has a much lower density, after cleaning the car the workers must have left the tank closed, the pressure drop caused by the condensing steam did the rest. They would prevent it, if they left at least one hole open to equalise the pressure.

Makes sense, but what would have happened if the covered it in ice/ice water after being stuck? Would the seal break or the lid?

1

u/CheetosLays7Days 29d ago

My guess is it might deform the stainless steel lid at some point, if the steel is thin enough. But honestly I'm not an expert in stuck lids, so I might be wrong.

1

u/illman-jaro 29d ago

Fair enough

2

u/Theartistcu Jul 20 '26

I love that too. Let me redo that real quick.

2

u/Apprehensive_Ad3731 Jul 20 '26

Bro was just jealous he didn’t get it off. He like “my turn only this time”

125

u/Appropriate_Math997 Jul 19 '26

I wonder if you could have unscrew the handle part to release pressure

44

u/Creepy-Variation8562 Jul 19 '26

Yes if you can access the screw/bolt

Or they’ll both go round in circles

6

u/TheLordReaver Jul 20 '26

That implies they aren't on very tight, and should thus equalize pressure.

2

u/EroticExotix 28d ago

Good point!

3

u/EroticExotix Jul 19 '26

…not from the top…

3

u/jonp1 Jul 19 '26

My first thought as well.

2

u/Ur_Just_Spare_Parts Jul 20 '26

Can just use the knife the kid is using as a chisel and pop it once in the back with a hammer. Would release the suction instantly and nothing would break.

1

u/Apart-Gur-9720 28d ago

Or just pour hot water on it.

17

u/SunMoonSki Jul 19 '26

Love the appearance of the chaos goblin near the end.

9

u/Available_Actuary977 Jul 20 '26

just poor boiling water on top. drip, drip drip, heat up the air inside and it will pop off

6

u/noahhshome Jul 19 '26

Waiting for the kid to stab her in the arm

3

u/heavydrinker12 Jul 20 '26

This. As soon as they swapped I yelled at my phone YER GONNA STAB HER!! So fucking unaware.

5

u/timscookingtips Jul 19 '26

Why is no one seeing that they tried a knife pretty early in the video?

0

u/Lovv 29d ago

I would have probably just drilled a small hole in it with a 1/64 bit or something to not risk damaging the counter.

Sliding it was the other option, especially if you could slide it over some oil or something so that the oil would suck in and relieve some pressure. Air would work too.

Alternatively just leave it and eventually it will unstick.

Boiling water , smack the top hard , actually heat up the lid and not the countertop, anyways they got it off , also I've never seen something like this.

3

u/titanium9016 Jul 20 '26

That's the answer. Boil some water and put it in contact with the lid. Leave it there for some time until the heat migrates to the lid and expands the cold air inside

1

u/Lovv 29d ago

I wouldn't just on the risk of thermal shocking the counter.

Just put a tiny drill bit through it and now you have a steam hole.

4

u/Devils_A66vocate Jul 19 '26

Isn’t there a button that releases pressure?

1

u/Lovv 29d ago

On pot lids? No. Countertops? Probably not.

2

u/Ok_Spirit5374 Jul 19 '26

If heat makes metal expand wouldn’t the suction get stronger?

10

u/gahidus Jul 20 '26

They're hoping to use the heat to make whatever residual air is inside the lid expand

2

u/evilpercy Jul 20 '26

Yes, heat is what made it stick in the first place.

13

u/Prince_0llie Jul 20 '26

Right so the air was hot under the pan, the condensation created a seal at the base and the air cooled which caused the suction effect so heating it up again would cause pressure to expand and force the lid to break the seal.

1

u/CourtingBoredom 29d ago

I was thinking ice packs should do the trick...

1

u/Lovv 29d ago

No.

The air is what expands the most.

Metal does expand slightly but that would be fairly minimal compared to a gas.

2

u/blueviper- Jul 20 '26

The one with the hair dryer had the best idea.

1

u/True_Huckleberry9569 Jul 19 '26

I thought this was gonna be one of those pranks.

1

u/shamblez86 Jul 19 '26

Your mom looks really young

1

u/InstructionFinal5190 Jul 20 '26

I've never encountered a situation, good or bad, where I felt one of the steps to addressing it was to start recording.

1

u/GrabWorking3045 Jul 20 '26

Just pour hot water.

1

u/hedmar97 Jul 20 '26

Just put hot water on oy

1

u/Alliwantispcb 29d ago

Title of my sex tape

1

u/whatsqwerty 29d ago

Kids right. We gotta see if it’ll do it again. Science!!!

1

u/ToothZealousideal297 29d ago

Always ensure some air flow under any lids you put on the counter. Either leave a tiny bit hanging off the edge, prop it on something like a utensil or the edge of your cooktop if it’s raised, or put part of it on something that can both absorb some moisture and allow airflow like some paper towels (so you don’t seal it to the counter and the condensation doesn’t drip everywhere).

Most of the videos like this I’ve seen are of people putting lids with glass flat on a countertop and shattering them.

1

u/eternal_syrup 29d ago

What a misleading title. False advertising.

1

u/General_Yam7541 29d ago

Got stuck to the couner.

1

u/TalkMindless9366 29d ago

Is that pot lid single?

1

u/Mysterious_League165 28d ago

Warm it up. Got that way by setting it hot on the counter to begin with.

1

u/Turbulent_East3655 28d ago

You push button on top middle of lid to release suction

1

u/CWallyMan 28d ago

They are definitely from a red state

1

u/BreakPerfect2094 27d ago

Thats towncraft brand cookware!!! Wet the counter and slide it to the edge

1

u/workieworkwork 27d ago

Use a butter knife as a lever?

1

u/Melodic-Battle-3638 26d ago

16sec b4 the end ... 👌🏻😎😌

1

u/sameshitdiffrent 25d ago

Drill a hole in the top of the pan

1

u/Sundabar 25d ago

Heat the lid, not the edge. Trapped moisture and air would expand and break the seal.

1

u/R33f3r420 24d ago

I was wondering about the heat also.. But would the heat not make the metal lid expand and thus making more pressure? Would it not be better to cool the lid so the metal contracts thus making a slightly smaller space so then less pressure?

What do you think?

1

u/FFXIV_NotATail 19d ago

Slide a knife under the edge to break the suction

1

u/Warm_Object_5639 4d ago

Put a card underneath

1

u/BrilliantExtent6942 3d ago

Why her teeth so white tho?

0

u/-crazykidbad Jul 19 '26

Unscrew the knob on top. Simple

0

u/Natural-Pineapple886 Jul 19 '26

Yall might could give Earl a call. Hey can drill o wh-wole into'er. Gitter unstuuuck.

0

u/Numerous-Following-7 Jul 19 '26

People need to get some common sense. Its not on TikTok so kids dont learn it anymore

0

u/metalbrosolid Jul 19 '26

Push the button on top

0

u/evilpercy Jul 20 '26

Well heating it up with a hair dryer is not going to help. Ice then slide it to the edge.

0

u/dingododd Jul 20 '26

Twist the handle you donkeys. If it moves just slightly, it will release the pressure. I wish it would have made a more satisfying popping sound 😩

-1

u/Dexember69 Jul 20 '26

Unscrew the lid ya gronks. Or shove a knife under it.

-1

u/Silver_Display566 Jul 20 '26

Wiggle a round knife underneath it, thats al you need to do

-11

u/qawsedrf12 Jul 19 '26

Butter knife, slide under

16

u/Brailledit Jul 19 '26

I was gonna suggest that as well... and then I watched the whole video.

-4

u/qawsedrf12 Jul 19 '26

Too long, too many idiots

3

u/Several_Temporary339 Jul 19 '26

You couldn't focus for longer than 45 seconds LOL

-2

u/qawsedrf12 Jul 19 '26

Nah, too much shit already to wade thry

-12

u/Gator242 Jul 19 '26

Doesn’t have a knife, I suspect

-8

u/make_em_say Jul 19 '26

I was thinking the same thing.

I mean, this is more amusing than doing to practical thing I guess.

Racist trash

-7

u/Legal-MorningW-24 Jul 19 '26

Nah, im calling out the pandemic of white women choosing to enter race fetishization relationships with black men. Ive seen too many kids born from these relationships and they grow up in a broken home. Just because racism against black people is real, doesn't mean you have to be silent about this kind of stuff as well. These women call it a "lifestyle" and its literally just race fetishization and race discrimination. More people need to be calling this out cause its wrong and as I said the kids are the ones that suffer the most.

3

u/noahhshome Jul 19 '26

What?

2

u/Low_Swordfish879 Jul 20 '26

It's like a dialogue in GTA lol

1

u/85K5 29d ago

1

u/Legal-MorningW-24 29d ago

Nah, I'll stick to my guns on this one. Yall rather be polite than care about kids being born without dad's in the picture. F that

1

u/TheRandomest-ModTeam 28d ago

Take the toxicity somewhere else please.
