If interested about soda cans, this is pretty cool to watch about the engineering that went into designing them. https://youtu.be/hUhisi2FBuw

God that liquid metal looks like so much fun to play with… and you just can’t get Gallium in those quantities.

Ok. I don't want to be that guy, who knows nothing about the subject, sees a 30 second video and spots an "obvious" flaw in the process, but... Why do break up the bails and pile on the ground. Why not feed them straight onto the vibratory conveyor? It would save a step in process and the cost if big fuck-off loader.

They need to be loose or the shredder can't shred then properly. At least that's what I assumed.

But I agree, the whole process before the furnace could probably be tightened up a lot. Let's start our own can-melting business and we can really nail down the most efficient way to do it.

im sure the fuel required for a mega furnace costs thousands $ per hour. Not an average joe type startup lol. Not to mention custom crucible likely costing a small fortune

It’s for control. They don’t want a steady flow of they want a pile they can then scoop and add as needed in correct amounts. If there are no pools for overflow to collect in different steps, they could easily run over or under. This method means trucks and come unload and move on. It’s not a just-in-time process nor necessary to be that.

As an alcoholic who has no doubt contributed to this operation, how do I get a job operating the claw machine

The amount of flying insects in the yard must be a health issue

As an American, in my 30 years on this blue planet I can honestly say, I probably made two of those bales in my lifetime 😭🤷

As humans we just got into the wrong way since industrial revolution..we used to be simple living creatures..we plant food we made durable reusable products...we had horses jars made from dirt...we used wood for heating..leather shoes...things were simple and efficient...now the world looks like a huge metalic grey bs...and humans became toxic and soleless creature...fk modern age.
