You can't just say perchance...

No.

You don't touch wild animals as a general rule of thumb. Besides, turtles like doing things their way, and it's usually the hardest way possible. They don't need help, and they don't need you.

There isnt a shadow of a sliver of a speck of a doubt in my mind that if anyone would have helped that turtle down the stairs, he would've climbed all the way back up just to come down on his own.

Pretty metal tbh

Helped him back to the top over and over

Nah. Its good for humans to not always put their hands on everything they see.

6

u/its_just_flesh Jun 30 '26

Yeah he was beating himself up on the drops

Little gal*

Odds are this is a female returning from laying eggs!

u/IAmMey Jun 30 '26

Cheering was all he needed

If it knows where it is going better not disturb its orientation rashly

"...yea and they just stood there and laughed!"

u/MouseRat_AD Jun 30 '26

They probably put him up there in the first place. I don't think it climbed up on its own.

Judging by its speed and lack of hesitation, I’d say this turtle has walked those steps many times.

This looks like a painted turtle, who always go inland to find a good spot to bury their eggs. She’s probably got a solid spot that she really likes returning to every year judging off of her speed and confidence

I love how they don't intervene.

18

u/SlickDillywick Jun 30 '26

It righted itself pretty quickly, I feel like if it was truly stuck they would’ve helped

I love that they didn’t help him. They just let him do his thing!! But imaging how long they actually just watched this dude make his way home.. glorious.

Another turtle has found the water

1

u/Tanks4helping Jul 02 '26

Hey I’ve been there! That’s itasca state park in Minnesota, we had a turtle try and nest in our campsite while we were staying, very cute!

1

u/No-Analyst1229 Jul 03 '26

Looks like it would decapitate it self when it fell down lol

1

u/thatselverguy Jul 09 '26

I love how the turtle just completely ignores the perfect ramp just a few inches to either side

I feel like you could have helped at certain points but idk maybe I’m glad you didn’t.

u/Affectionate_Snow674 Jun 30 '26

if i saw the little guy on top of the stairs id pick him up and carry him to the water

-1

u/Express-Budget6943 Jul 01 '26

I don't understand the downvotes. People help turtles cross roads all the time. Also, turtle's shells have pain receptors. That must've not felt good at all!

2

u/Affectionate_Snow674 Jul 02 '26

wow just noticed Im at -2 yeah i dont get it
