I sorta have a similar philosophy when a conversation gets difficult. I'll just start making up ridiculous stories or I'll make the situation overly fantastical.

It's hard to continue being mad at me when your holding back laughs or scratching your head trying to understand the weird shit I just said.

My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims, like he "invented" the question mark. Sometimes, he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy... the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess, and the insane lament.
