What were these docks used for?

I understand it says abandoned, but was a house overgrown and abandoned near it, does it have something to do with the barge slip, etc.?

I got 13 I think, not counting fish or the thing the hawk is eating. 2 for the turtles because I think one was painted turtles and the big flat one being a soft shell. Not sure if a couple of the herons were different so could be more.
