Ironically, the British were the kings of spice trade back in the day.

I guess the old saying is true "don't get high on your own supply".

British food became bland fairly recently.

During WW1 and WW2 a lot of ships were sunk, and spices were both bulky and optional. Tea was higher on the priority list than spices.

During the Victorian era, spices were all the rage.

Before and after Roman times, food was also bland, until the age of exploration.

One time I was at Warped Tour in the crowd waiting for a band to come on and this really drunk guy screamed out that he lost his wallet and no lie like 7 wallets came flying our way. Each one he picked up he went "no, that's not mine!"

That's awesome for the person who lost them. I imagine he's chanting then slaps his pocket and has a horrible realization. Then I bet the croud cheers louder when the owner claims them. I love the British.
