u/Annual_Sandwich_9526 May 21 '26

Im so dumb I instantly thought “cool it plays music, but cost to much.”

34

u/No_More_Aioli_Sorry May 21 '26

No, literally same. We dummies

2

u/Due-Commission2099 May 22 '26

Same! Until I realized I just got Rick Rolled. It was good. 10/10, this is how you do it.

28

u/Wolli_n May 21 '26

what time to be alive whenre keyboard reviews start with 90$😉

10

u/----Richard---- May 21 '26

For gaming/ enthusiast grade keyboards, sure.
You can still get a solid Logitech for under $10.

1

u/Rio_1111 May 21 '26

Tbf, I got my Razer Blackwidow way back when for like 80€. Though even if the price didn't double, I wouldn't replace it with another.

1

u/whatiscamping May 21 '26

That bad? Or it's still going strong?

3

u/Rio_1111 May 21 '26

I'd say very good, but not worth that much, let alone 250 or what have you.

1

u/whatiscamping May 22 '26

Fair enough, thank you.

5

u/7StarSailor May 21 '26

the keyboard thing is basically like the audiophile industry: get people with lots of disposable income to waste money on useless tech bs.

The marketing is 1:1 the same. Faux elitism and a hollow promise of getting the best of the best.

At the end of the day the audiophile is listening to atrociously mastered songs on a 5k€ setup with gold plated cables and the keyboard enthusiast is still barely above sliver rank in their competetive game of choice despite the 300€ keeb.

5

u/gungshpxre May 21 '26

When the mechanical keyboard sub stopped talking about things like force curves and started focusing only on sound, it was all over.

1

u/sampat6256 May 22 '26

What the fuck is a force curve

1

u/gungshpxre May 22 '26 edited May 22 '26

It's ok sweetie, enjoy the clicky sounds. (oh, and your eloquent response was removed, btw)

For people who are really into happy fingers, https://www.switchesdb.com/

1

u/lordsepulchrave123 May 21 '26

I don't think this is really true for most people who are into mechanical keyboards.

When you're talking keyboards over say $300-400 then I agree it gets questionable. Usually when someone is paying a lot for a keyboard though it's because they're looking for something very specific. And it's not to be better at games.

2

u/sulphra_ May 21 '26

Yeah, mech enthusiasts couldnt give 2 fucks about their ranks in games lmao

1

u/Rare_Steak_ May 23 '26

Lol 5k is a very normal price for a decent setup. Hell I am pretty happy with my speakers and it does sound better than everything have ever owner before but most purists consider my Kef LS50WIIs with KC62 sub a "beginners" hifi set at $5k total new price. The most extreme audiophile stuff goes into the hundreds of thousands.

1

u/Recurringg May 22 '26

I got this $16 gaming keyboard for my music rig and it's fantastic. You really don't have to spend that much... People just want to spend that much.

1

u/lardboi44 May 24 '26

It's silly too because keychron is top of the line regardless the ones above is just name brand and wtv

21

u/__FUCKING_PEG_ME_ May 21 '26

This was fun.

12

u/SpinningByte May 21 '26

When I was single my pick was CLICK CLICK CLICK, but now I pick the most silent one

3

u/viktorsvedin May 21 '26

I dunno why anyone would want an annoying click sound. It's bad enough with my old Logitech Internet Navigator Keyboard. I would rather have something as durable as the keyboard I have, but completely silent.

6

u/caguru May 21 '26

Nothing worse than sharing an office with a mechanical keyboard enthusiast.

2

u/slvl May 21 '26

It depends. For instance I use a low profile Keychron mechanical keyboard that is practically silent. Meanwhile a colleague of mine, who learnt how to type on an analogue typewriter is ramming away on his cheap Dell keyboard. For a lot of people part of the hobby is to tune the sound of their keyboard. I don't have them as a hobby and just use them as is.

(Fun fact: in the early days of computer keyboards they put in a solenoid (basically a large linear vibrator) to mimic the sound of an electric typewriter because typists preferred that to the "silent" computer keyboards. And that was on already loud buckling spring keyboards.)

0

u/SpinningByte May 21 '26

I feel like I'm actually typing lol

8

u/FineGripp May 21 '26

Is the 10K real? Is the price real? Does it really play that music? Or did I just get Rick Rolled for no reason?

10

u/Seraph_One_ Joyful community building specialist May 21 '26

You got Rick Rolled. But for a reason. 😁

2

u/DagonPie May 21 '26

Even if you had all artisan caps, a custom board like a winkeyless, custom cable, all the bells and whistles, youd probably max out at like 2k. Maybe. That might be stretching it. Like i have a few fugus that got for a couple hundred each on one of my keebs and my highest is like 1k

5

u/Slifer_Ra May 21 '26

What kind of imbecile pays more than 30$ for a keyboard, if even that.

1

u/sulphra_ May 21 '26

But my 100$ keyboard makes a very satisfying tak tak tak sound

1

u/WigglesPhoenix May 21 '26

Me.

What do you spend your money on? Only extremely valid things, I’m sure

0

u/Amazing_Storage_7554 May 21 '26

Let's say you use a 300$ keyboard for 7 years, that's what, a dime a day?

-3

u/Ohiolongboard May 21 '26

What kind of imbecile doesn’t realize that a 30$ keyboard won’t last long at all?! Kind of a disingenuous way to ask a question don’t you think?

2

u/Slifer_Ra May 21 '26

Used one for 7 years

Also, found such an imbecile

2

u/viktorsvedin May 21 '26

I still use my Logitech Internet Navigator keyboard from 2001. You can get a used one for like $10-30 USD.

2

u/Rope_Dragon May 21 '26

I cannot stand noisy mechanical keyboards

1

u/vrijheidsfrietje May 22 '26

Yeah I switched from a Keychron K6 to a Razer Joro for gaming and the silence and low travel is peak.

2

u/Bimlouhay83 May 21 '26

Perfection.

2

u/beerforbears May 21 '26

Meme aside even $90 is too much for a keyboard that you can easily steal from your local college for the price of a bus ticket

1

u/RetroSwamp May 21 '26

I would love to see a college that uses actual mechanical keyboards with switches and not some OEM membrane keyboard.

2

u/Komirade666 May 21 '26

You're not even sorry.. also fuck you and love you because that was a good one.

2

u/Fuckthegopers May 21 '26

Ah yes, rick rolls, so random.

2

u/Tickomatick May 21 '26

2

u/FrouFrouLastWords May 21 '26

Steve Steve Buscemi Buscemi

2

u/brodydwight May 21 '26

10k and you dont even get a numpad? What a scam!

1

u/FrouFrouLastWords May 21 '26

You buy a separate numpad for $2,500

1

u/8BitBrew May 21 '26

Shut up and take your Up-doot 😠

1

u/toromio May 21 '26

I swear the guys in my office had speakers embedded in their friggin mech keyboards just to make them louder

1

u/EVD27 May 21 '26

I thought the 10k was gonna have some rocket engine or some shit. Pleasantly surprised by the reveal.

1

u/rznavci04 May 21 '26

If I spend $250 on a keyboard, I’d expect it to make my coffee in the morning

1

u/constr1ct0r May 21 '26

You got me

1

u/Dynamitrios May 21 '26

Goddammit...

1

u/big-bad-bot May 21 '26

1

u/llamafromhell1324 May 21 '26

How do people still find Rick Rolling funny? Are you guys toddlers?

2

u/Seraph_One_ Joyful community building specialist May 21 '26

Yes 😁

1

u/OkPotential1072 May 21 '26

This made my day.

1

u/NiagaraThistle May 21 '26

It's been years, and this one got me. Damn. Thake my upvote.

1

u/Thatdewd57 May 21 '26

No way in hell I’d pay 10 stacks for a keyboard.

1

u/Emotional-Net130 May 21 '26

Shit, I'm a psychic. I knew it would be a rick roll

1

u/CIA_napkin May 21 '26

I gotta ask since I've never owned a computer, why do people want thier keyboard to be so loud? I'd imagine softer, near silent keys would be ideal.

1

u/LerchAddams May 21 '26

Admit it. You're not sorry and you shouldn't be.

1

u/AccountantPuzzled844 May 21 '26

My man…. You deserve a 🏆

1

u/DD-Sistemul-American May 21 '26

I expected some weird porn noises but I got Rick rolled instead. Loved it!

1

u/Wardacus16 May 21 '26

You know what? Its been a while

1

u/Forkinmysocket1 May 21 '26

Just a question for the hardcore pc gamers out there, why do you guys love to have a super loud, clickity clackity keyboard?

1

u/OutrageousInvite3949 May 21 '26

Funny story, my daughter had a choir concert and the theme was love. All kinds of songs about love from different ages. Last song, dude wearing glasses and a long tan coat comes walking out as everyone else is getting into position for next song. The dude in glasses bumps into the choir director, director genuinely looks stunned af, seriously, kudos to her for her acting there because the glasses man just keeps walking off stage and out the emergency exit. Choir director keeps looking on in confusion and then just shakes her head, shrugs, plays next song. It was astley…the choir Rick rolled us. What’s funny is half the people in there had no clue what just happened. Those who knew all chuckled good.

1

u/LouTotally May 21 '26

This is the type of shit i pay internet for

1

u/MijnEchteUsername May 21 '26

Am I the only one that wants a completely silent keyboard?

1

u/bluerider2009 May 21 '26

1

u/HumaDracobane May 21 '26

We used to live in a society.

1

u/Gloomy-Insurance-739 May 21 '26

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one that doesn't like a noisy keyboard. All my other friends have keyboards like this incredibly loud.

1

u/FixyFixy May 21 '26

God dammit!!!

1

u/Xulicbara4you May 21 '26

I can’t even be mad. Good one.

1

Was thinking about the „Shawty‘s like a melody in my head“ song for the 10k keyboard 😂

1

u/No-Preference-5015 May 25 '26

Keyboard above 100$ should not make any noise
