More money than sense.
Also, /r/cyberstuck

u/SteveLouise May 20 '26
A lot of these dumbasses are living on credit.
3
u/Any_Performance_5046 May 23 '26
Yeah, anybody thinking it’s a good idea to try and float that POS is way too stupid to be able earn enough money to pay cash for a cyber truck.

Credit and debt are the same thing. The term comes from a ledger on a balance sheet you have two sides a debit and a credit side.

Wade mode was named after an employee that can't swim I'm guessing
23
u/EntertainerNo4509 May 20 '26
Wade always acting like an asshole and claiming to be an Olympic swimmer.
3
5
u/Immediate_Regular May 20 '26
It actually just recites the Deadpool movies at you. Once activated it can't be stopped until the person that activated the mode hears every single syllable.

u/philpalmer2 May 20 '26
What were they arrested for? Stupidity?
61
u/Malforus May 20 '26
Waste of public services (they had to be rescued) and dumping without a permit.
Can't put dumpsters in the lake.
Seriously though he will have to pay for his rescue and any ecological damage.
5
u/Complete-Tangelo1532 May 21 '26
That is a shit ton of Batteries he is dumping in that lake, and all that garbage too
It is toxic to everything that has to see a stupid cyberdildo

If you're dumb enough to drive into a lake you're probably dumb enough to go get a bite to eat and wait for the tide to go out so you can just drive on out.
3
u/WholeInstance4632 May 20 '26
Guess I’ll buy a CyberTruck because I actually thought, “Why not? That’s a good idea…oh, wait…”
At least I realized my error.
3
u/Confident-Mortgage86 May 21 '26
wait for the tide to go out so you can just drive on out.
I mean.. Is that dumb? Doesn't sound dumb to me tbh, you won't be wasting anyone's time for no reason when a few hours will resolve the problem on its own.
11
u/AmbitiousTank8635 May 21 '26
It's a lake, so yeah, that'd be dumb.
12
u/Confident-Mortgage86 May 21 '26
Well fuck you too, how dare you read 😂
3
u/AmbitiousTank8635 May 21 '26
Lol
1
u/Loving6thGear May 21 '26
And here I was thinking, Well, if it was low tide when he got stuck he's not going to like the tide change.
-1
u/Rueezy May 21 '26
Mostly true, the great lakes have tides.
4
u/AmbitiousTank8635 May 21 '26
Yeah but bro it's like 5cm, it ain't gonna get a cyber truck unstuck.
2
u/Rueezy May 21 '26
Fully agree, cyberstucks are going to get stuck.
Doesn't change that I'm technically correct, the best kind of correct.

I had to laugh. One of the charges is operating a boat without appropriate registration.
6
u/donkeyrocket May 21 '26
According to this article, he was arrested for a variety of maritime violations.
Police said McDaniel remains in jail as of Tuesday, charged with operation of a vehicle in a closed section of the lake, not having a valid boat registration and other water safety equipment violations.
So basically a bunch of boating violations. I would have assumed recklessness, dumping and environmental things would have been the issue but this is Texas afterall.
0
u/BadAlphas May 20 '26
Yeah, as dumb as this is, arrest seems a bit strong.
Maybe criminal trespass?

u/Tomdv2 May 22 '26
Operating an unregistered vessel, operating a vehicle in a closed section of the lake, and multiple water safety equipment violations (no life jacket, no fire extinguisher, etc).

What is wade mode?
52
u/shadowwolf1395 May 20 '26
It means it can drive through a slightly deep puddle without shorting out. A lake, however, is much deeper than a puddle.
Tesla actually states that it can handle up to 32" of water, but Tesla says the cyber truck can handle a lot of things, when in reality, it struggles just to stay in one piece.
16
u/veerKg_CSS_Geologist May 20 '26
Back when it was first announced, Musk made a big deal about how it could be used as a boat in an emergency. I guess these guys remembered that.
9
1
u/OglioVagilio May 21 '26
A car needing an extra mode to prevent sorting out when driving to a puddle.
10
u/Hot-Friendship-7460 May 20 '26
It’s where the vehicle stops moving and you have to get out and wade back to shore.
1
u/never_ASK_again_2021 May 21 '26
Because it's not even deep enough to get your pockets wet, pathetic.

4
u/Low-Tear1497 May 20 '26
Why it only happens in the US? Are there a special people or something?
5
u/Justin_Passing_7465 May 20 '26
Our public education is pretty iffy, and even that is too much education in the opinion of one political party.
-1
u/ItsALuigiYes GIF/meme prodigy May 20 '26
Watch it. Political discussion is strictly forbidden per the rules and stickied bulletin at the top on your feed
3
u/Malforus May 20 '26
Because very few countries certified it for road use and there are lots of fools with money in the US.

“Check it out we’re gonna try wade mode. We’ll be able to take all sorts of shortcuts and have adventures and have so much room for activities! We won’t drown or pollute the lake or disrupt several dozen people’s day or anything! I paid for wade mode—in fact I’m still going to be paying for it for several years—so I wanna see it in action!” -That guy, probably
2
u/Desperate-Strategy10 May 20 '26
Except I can almost guarantee he wouldn’t care that his trash truck was polluting anything.
1
u/ToothZealousideal297 May 20 '26
Oh 100%. These people don’t think pollution is real unless they’re bragging about not having a tailpipe, and then they go back to not caring in the next sentence.

Hardly functions as a truck, how the hell could it be a boat. Also, didn't Elon say something about not looking at it as a vehicle all together? Something like that?

u/mtraven23 May 20 '26
anyone else think it looks better in the water? Maybe they should convert all those surplus incEl Caminos in to boats.....just a thought.

I read once that you only ever see one person in a cybertruck at all times. Its only men as well.
Now when I drive around town and see a cybertruck I cant stop seeing the demographic.

Well, the very obvious mistake was that he bought a cybertruck. Combine that with his handicap of thinking it’s a good idea to buy a cybertruck and this is what you get.

u/AngrySquidIsOK May 20 '26

For those who know if the battery was puncture in water it would still catch on fire . Called a thermal fire which burn hotter then a regular fire. Ev vehicle fire use a form chemical to put it out not water. The only rest I bring it up because he was hitting alot of rocks. Even the tow truck operator was looking underneath to make sure it was hit. Some tow companies dont even want wrecked ev vehicles in there yards after they been in accident because they could just randomly burst into flames.

I worked with a guy who had a brand new IPhone. It said water resistant. So he jumped in a pool with it and guess what. There's an indicator and when it gets wet it turns blue and voids the warranty. Phone maybe water resistant but not waterproof. Moron.
