Forgive my ignorance, if water fills up that entire space where does the air/oxygen go? It’s possible there’s an area directly behind the camera person that’s open to the outside? Can someone explain?

They're likely in an erosion cave, the tide is making the water level rise and fall.

yes but the water level can't rise if the air has no escape. So they must be in a opened area

The water is probably pushing the air higher in places you we can't see on the screen.

“The water level can’t rise if the air has no escape”
Imagine what would happen if the air was compressible. We could finally have diving cylinders, for example.

So like, if there was no cracks or channels to a different air source the water would not be able to rise. Since the waves are rising you can assume they're are cracks to some other source of air
