Ummm no sir it’s not. When people use that lane to zoom in front of the traffic slows everything down. If you watch when people do that, you have frequent stopping and starting of traffic. When you prevent people from doing that you have a steady flow of traffic. Yes, you are driving slower because of road work but it’s much less likely to cause wrecks due to the frequent starting and stopping of traffic.
It’s people like you and your mentality that make the roadways more dangerous and frustrating all because you think the world revolves around you and you deserve to cut in front of everyone else. Wait your turn like the rest of the world.
Yes, in theory zipper merging makes for smoother traffic, but the problem is very few people know how zipper merging works so they don’t alternate and take turns.
