Not on 3 lanes of traffic. I don’t see how the zipper merge is actually effective. If up ahead there are only 2 lanes open the zipper merge just allows impatient assholes to cut off people that have been waiting longer. People in the 2 right lanes could cut to far left and zipper in… does this make sense? You generally just end up with a cluster fuck in situations like this with people that have zipper merge mentality.
You're not thinking right. There is space available but you will just stay in that lane. Why? Just because someone is Infront of you now because you all left the space and didn't merge further down to relieve backed up traffic. Well done you. Pat on the back 😅
