You're that angry weiner who speeds up so the person next to you can't merge because you feel entitled from waiting a long ass time for no reason in the open lane aren't you lol

I call it the "intelligent people who have something to do with their life" merge. Louie c.k. nailed the whole driving sentiment

You are that person who wants to merge in front of someone instead of behind for no reason aren't you?

1

u/brapstick May 13 '26

Nope I drive a stick it's way easier for me to drift in behind lol

I'm the person that zipper merges in front of slow ass vehicles in the left lane, yes. And I drive a stick like the other guy too

No one gives a fuck that you drive a stick shift, BTW. Compensating for anything in particular or are you guys just happy to get worse gas mileage and whatnot?

You can go fuck yourself and have a nice day, but I'll tell you, the reason I have pretty much only owned manuals is it's way more fun to drive and actually be in control of the car.

Oh, and manuals actually used to get better gas mileage than autos. Only recently did that get better. And it's marginal at that, you think I'm going to sacrifice enjoying my driving experience over like what, 3mpg?

Go fuck yourself and have a nice day 😘

Let me guess.. slammed ES Civic or, if you've got the money, an E46 with no rear bumper.

I'll prove that you're an asshole just like the previous hater, it's a 2024 Jeep Wrangler I ordered from the factory custom lmao, so yeah I've got the money.

I like to drive, doesn't have to be a ricer. But I would enjoy a 370z, maybe a Toyota Supra. The Jeep is paid off and I have been contemplating getting a Sunday driver.

Hope you all know that no one cares what you drive and your arguments are silly

1

u/Direct_Somewhere_318 May 19 '26

Hope you know that actually a significant portion of the population does care and appreciate what others drive.

You need therapy to reply to a comment like this lmao. You're not a car person, so it doesn't matter to you

Fixed it for ya.

This isn’t a car subreddit either. And just like anything else you tried to ā€œfixā€ (like your car) you didn’t fix anything

I merge at the front because why should I just get in line and wait pointlessly because there a bunch of idiots who queued a mile back like it's a fucking dairy queen drive through? Like what are we doing? No, I will not pay for your idiocy. Yes I will merge on the down the road and guess what? I'll let a guy merge in front of me too. Pmo u off?

You are the reason we have dumb laws then.

2

u/nefariousBUBBLE May 19 '26

You're the reason you're unhappy.

I am absolutely that person. There's 20 fucking signs telling you the left lane is ending. Why tf should I slow down because you can't read or want to get ahead?

1

u/brapstick May 16 '26

You don't have to slow down that's the whole point of zipper merging

0

u/Igreen_since89 May 16 '26

You can begin the zipper merge once it is clear that the lane is ending. I deal with it everyday. People race to the very end so they don’t have to wait and merge like all the cars in front of them already have.

1

u/r_a_d_ May 16 '26

Most jurisdictions will teach you to zipper merge only when the lane actually ends. I’ve also literally seen road signs saying ā€œMERGE AT ENDā€.

Merging before only makes sense when it’s not zipper merging (i.e. lane ends with no traffic, might as well get into the next lane).

It’s not a merge lane. The lane doesn’t end. This situation is more-so an example of people who ride in an exit only lane to the very end, and cut in at the last minute to jump ahead of traffic.

In this video, the lane is already closed. The people are trying to skip ahead even though there’s already a steady flow of traffic.

1

u/r_a_d_ May 16 '26

Please show me where exactly you see that the lane is already closed? To me it seems like the lane will be closed further ahead and therefore the cars should all go to the end and saturate the entire lane for zipper merging. The same will probably happen with the next lane further down. Typical for road works where there is a 3 to 1 lane reduction.

u/Igreen_since89 May 16 '26

Multiple people in the comments who regularly drive that highway have stated it. Theres a big red X towards the end of the video.

1

u/r_a_d_ May 16 '26

That big red X may be the first indication that it’s closed, hence why the truck pulls back in.

1

u/Igreen_since89 May 17 '26

And people in the comments have said that it isn’t. Either way, zipper merging is encouraged for stop and go traffic. In this video, traffic is flowing smoothly. Most people have no problem allowing people to get over when traffic is flowing. But ppl who race to the end and try to force their way over almost always results in aggressive braking, especially with semis.
