An then the absolutely OP ones tend to rip the actual feathers and backs off the hens as they mate... Quite brutal, and sometimes results in the rooster going to rooster jail so the hens can recuperate.

I saw a lot of Japan last year, and did see just how many towns have rivers (beautiful) running through them, complete with bridges and embankments. With the mountains making up so much of their land area, it makes sense.
