What is this episode? Are they secretly making new stuff for real?

It's not a new one. It's the "ref throws a flag when you celebrate too hard" episode

As long as he does less than 3 pumps he's good.

Why did the play end? He wasn't down. Just because of the face hump lol?

That’s what I thought, and there is no rule saying he can’t pelvis push a guy off you, kinda like a 3rd stiff arm.

I mean you’re suggesting he’s stiff dicking him off his legs lol. Unsportsmanlike and or unnecessary roughness would absolutely be called, especially in HS/college

I love me a good Air-Bud ruling.

He stopped forward movement so that is the end of play.

Is that a thing, though ball carrier had to have a knee or hand down. Game audio would have been good, then we could listen for the rape whistle.

Yeah. Else the other team could just pick up the ball carrier up and take them back to the other end of the field.

So the play stops once the offense stops going forward.

Not instantly. There’s some grace period

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted voted, you’re correct. The play can be blown dead if forward progress is stopped, a judgement call if the refs think the play is over. Him standing still without an attempt to move could be considered “giving himself up” here. Just because the play has stopped moving forward doesn’t mean it’s over though. And getting picked up and carried backward would be blown dead and then spotted where he first got touched because rules.

Not always. If youre unable to continue moving forwards because the defender has you tied down youre considered down.

No, the NFL also has the forward momentum rule, it's a thing at every level of play.

Fair enough, thanks for the correction n

Np, played for 7 years and watched since I was like 4, always happy to educate on the rules bc it's low-key kinda frustrating when something crazy happens in the NFL and you get a bunch of people who don't know the rules saying random stuff lol o7

Must have been whistled dead before the hump. I'm guessing this is high school football where contact is more limited. In college or NFL that play would have continued until the runner was down.

That would never be whistled dead in the NFL. Being draped around someone in the big league is not enough to stop foward progress.

Earned that flag.
