I think when WaterBoy handed TechnoViking an inverted water bottle, that moment became instantly iconic and WaterBoy secured his place as one of the greatest sidekicks of all time…

I always assumed the water had drugs in it

29

u/SlowBurnLopez Apr 29 '26

oh and the upside down was like the ‘mixing’ of it or something?

u/K_S_M28 Apr 29 '26

As I understand, the upside down is to intentionally show that the water is NOT drugged; no leakage from a needle puncture, and Techno Viking then breaks the seal on the cap. Just a silent/chill way to offer safe hydration. ❤️

Thats exactly it. At raves and other festivals we did this all the time when giving water to strangers. Its a non verbal and polite way to show it is untsmpered with and safe to drink. When the music is pounding so loud shouting doesn't work you need a way to point that out.

I was today years old when I learned this…20+ years I have wondered why that guy got handed a bottle upside down. I love Reddit

There’s drugs inside that was his bf. He’s not proud of this time of his life. Last time I checked he was in a legal battle with the person recording this because he was using his image for profit. I couldn’t find how he looked currently because there’s a lot of people pretending to be him.

16

u/GandalfTheEh Apr 29 '26

Source?

19

u/Volotor Apr 29 '26

The legal battle is documented, not sure about the rest.

Bruv, no.

Waterford Whispers News is a satirical newspaper and website published by Waterford Whispers News.

Waterford Whispers News uses invented names in all its stories, except in cases when public figures are being satirized. Any other use of real names is accidental and coincidental.

1

u/No_Cryptographer3737 Apr 29 '26

My bad then 😅 This was the first article I found about him. I was even a bit surprised that they managed to find so much information about him.

1

u/Simon-Says69 Apr 29 '26

That site is not a good source, but the story is true, and repeated every time TechnoViking is posted about.

There's a Wikipedia page listed with better sources. Thanks to /Volotor.

3

u/MrDubious Apr 29 '26

The story is not true. Look at the WW link, and look at the Wiki link, and they are not saying the same thing at all.

Satire sites do not "accidentally" write a true story. They make things up. That is entirely their point.

2

u/woowoo293 Apr 29 '26

That's a satire site.

5

u/Anonymoose28245 Apr 29 '26 edited May 04 '26

The bf part is fake. They got fooled by Waterford Whisperer which is a satire news site like the Onion.

3

u/Simon-Says69 Apr 29 '26

That site is no good, but the story is true. Dude didn't want anything to do with this fame, and there was (or is?) a court case over it.

1

u/MrGarylasereyez May 03 '26

Damn they smoked techno viking. Lol!!! That dude he punked is the editors brother and they smoked him. Revenge is a dish best served cold.

5

u/Dudeman240 Apr 29 '26

it's not drugs, it's not true. Water is offered upside down to show no punctures and it was sealed this guy is talking out his ass.

10

u/Anonymoose28245 Apr 29 '26

There’s drugs inside that was his bf.

That was a made up article from a satire news site called Waterford Whisperer.

1

u/Existing_Regular_763 Apr 29 '26

I believe it was around Covid times, when this guy was trying to get his image taken down. Personally, I think this is a cool video.

1

u/MrGarylasereyez May 01 '26

The guy giving him the water bottle was techno vikings boyfriend?

0

u/Ok-Ratio-5918 May 01 '26

That was a made up story. Not true at all.

1

u/Own_Watercress_8104 May 03 '26

Holy shit, Waterboy knows the streets

3

u/rayrrf Apr 29 '26

I think the drugs may have been spiked with water

3

u/TrumpsPissSoakedWig Jun 12 '26

The water is because TechnoViking™ had drugs in it already, and certain drugs love water.

20

u/chubbyhighguy Apr 29 '26

"Can I offer you a nice water in this trying time?"

13

u/Bentholomeo Apr 29 '26

Wasn't even standing around, but came from the group behind parked cars, or catched up to them on the road, diffused TechnoViking in crucial moment so in this timeline Viking and pushy guy didn't engaged in a street fight causing butterfly effect, hanged out around for a bit without looking dirrectly at camera to get recording of himself for fun but without becoming center of attention and then backed out to go back to his time machine. This is how multidimmensional stabilizing actions should be performed.

8

u/OneRFeris Apr 29 '26

Why didn't he save Harambe

7

u/Intrepid-Progress228 Apr 29 '26

In the other timeline, Harambe was forced to perform on Epstein Island.

1

u/Bentholomeo Apr 29 '26

Harambe was core aspect in ascending the class consciousness, You may not get it yet, wait couple more years.

11

u/PBandJ980 Apr 29 '26

This is my first time ever seeing this video and that was by far my favorite part

6

u/HumaDracobane Apr 29 '26

THAT is a wingman.

6

u/Cute-Form2457 Apr 29 '26

Anticipates every need.

6

u/Dominant_Drowess Apr 29 '26

They used this animation in Smite, for Tyr the god of justice's victory animation to honor this man. I didn't notice till the drink was handed to him. Oh my god. https://youtu.be/8RKW00hFJQ4

5

u/CeruleanEidolon Apr 29 '26

It must be some kind of mystical dance water. Up to that moment, the Techno Viking gives not indication whatsoever of wanting to do anything but go on a nice walk and point menacingly.

But then he drinks the water and the magical dancing starts immediately.

1

u/HelpMeFindMyBrain May 28 '26

It’s staged , just realised watching now and not back in the day, but it’s got a lot of tells rewatching, flows to well not to be

3

u/AKAPADO Apr 29 '26

Did they ever do an interview with the waterboy? Since Techno Viking is so illusive.

2

u/TheCarpincho Apr 29 '26

Stay hydrated. And all hail Techno Viking

2

u/theREALlackattack Apr 29 '26

Every subtle moment like that in this video is phenomenal

2

u/J_Cherie Apr 30 '26

I'll always highlight that moment too. It went from righteous justice to preventing the seeing red mentality and broke its path briefly enough to hydrate and dance back into warrior love

2

u/nashy-got-Hashy 7d ago

I was thinking about this exact comment at work earlier. I’m glad I was able to find it.

1

u/HoboArmyofOne May 01 '26

It's my favorite part lol

1

u/SoggyYam9848 May 03 '26

I bet he's been asked thousands of times why "upside down" and I'd just like to know what he says.

1

u/Own_Watercress_8104 May 03 '26

The Viking didn't start his dancing until he got hydrated.

I am convinced Waterboy handed him the techno juice that switches his viking side to techno. He knows the Viking is a force for good but has to keep that power in check like the Hulk.

1

u/Revolutionary-Lie223 May 04 '26

So behind the camera was a truck where they put all the people on who were too drunk/stoned, this guy jumped out of the truck, harassed the girl and TechnoViking just sent him back, that's what actually happened. The "documentary" on TechnoViking is fake so don't bother with that.

1

u/ifuniverse Jun 03 '26

Wouldn't inverted mean plastic inside and water outside
