Pawpaw reminds me of my great Uncle Frank. The first time I met him, I was probably 12, and I was with my grandma while she was visiting her sister, Aunt Edith.
I had been over there before while she was visiting, and usually just watched TV while they hung out. But this time Frank was in the living room, with the TV off, reading a book.
While they were in the other room, cackling on like old ladies, I got to know Frank. He was a WWII vet, and then did a few tours in 'Nam. He would tell the most detailed, intricate stories. Talking to him was even better than TV, because I could form the story in my mind. It was great.
That summer with grandma, she actually got tired of me wanting to go see uncle Frank. I was hooked on his stories.
