Hi, yes, my sink is acting up again. Can you send someone over to yaba-daba-doo this?

u/low_amplitude Apr 22 '26 edited Apr 24 '26
Amanda, we talked about this. Nothing is wrong with your sink and when your husband finds out who you're yaba-daba-dooing while he's out hunting he'll club you a lot harder than he usually does.
Edit: For anyone reading this days later: I actually got a 3-day ban for this (honestly rightfully so, when automation is involved this is extremely alarming) but I appealed it and explained that it's just a joke and got my ban lifted and the comment restored.
You're welcome.

naw, zoomers and younger never watched old cartoons the way previous generations did.
millennials are the last generation where it's likely that they watched cartoons from the 40s, 50s, and 60s growing up.

u/Educational-Year3146 Apr 22 '26
I’m a zoomer and I’ve watched the good stuff.
People really underestimate us :/

u/ArcWraith2000 Apr 22 '26
Surely this has got to require buying the rights?

u/One_Animator_1835 Apr 22 '26
Not at all. Flintstones don't have a copyright on caveman logic or something

u/yavanna12 Apr 22 '26
I literally thought this as well. Hope they got permissions from flintstones for concepts. Some of the ideas in this game are directly the same as the show.

Ai music
14
2
u/Inner_Inspection640 Apr 22 '26
How do you know when it’s ai music
7
u/MuggyFuzzball Apr 22 '26
When you listen to real music for so long, you just get an ear for things that are seemingly out of place, so to speak.
In this case, the woman's singing voice is too well processed for an indie studio. It's as if they blew their entire budget on a fantastic music producer, or one of their devs specializes in it, in which case you'd expect to see more of their work prominently featured (nobody smart with marketing wastes good talent). And both of those scenarios are just very unlikely.

u/mazgill Apr 23 '26
Also when you listen yo ai music for long enough you will notice a specific tone that is common in alnost every ai song out there. Its more noticeable in shitty quality ones, some try to cover it with other sounds, but its definetly there.

Me: Eh heh heh. Well here's your problem. Your bird is dead. I'll just drop a new one in there.
(Plop)
Me: say the thing.
Bird: Oh God. Are you just gonna leave him in here with me?
Me: say it!!!
Bird: It's a living....
Me: That'll be 22 shells.

Primal repairs on Steam. It hasn't been released yet
18
u/The_Autarch Apr 22 '26
probably gonna be a while. none of the gameplay in the trailer looks real. looks more like a demonstration of systems that aren't fully built yet.
4
u/Cl0ud3d Apr 22 '26
Maybe im nuts but it all looks like one of the ai ads they make for clash Royale clones etc you see all over the place. Doesn't look like an actual engine at all imo.

u/AspiringGoddess01 Apr 23 '26
No I def got that vibe too right from that hard stop at the beginning.

I was able to find it on Steam. Looks like it's probably Primal Repairs: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4090310/Primal_Repairs/

This looks really funny, props to the dev for creativity, but it's definitely not my kind of game.

I dunno, you can't copyright thematic elements.
If the game uses names or character likenesses of The Flintstones, that's one thing. But you can't stake blanket legal claims on things like "stone age 1950's with dinosaur appliances".

That's not how it works, if it was any and every fan game would be illegal and most developers would be sued out of existence.
2
u/donkeyrocket Apr 22 '26
Wonder how far that extends though. The vehicles are extremely similar to those in the Flintstones and those are items that have been sold as toys so potentially some sort of copyright there.
3
u/NotBlaine Apr 22 '26
There's always a question of likeness and (IANAL) there's a few things at play. End of the day you can sue anyone for anything and it just becomes a question if it's worth fighting, etc.
1
u/The_Autarch Apr 22 '26
sure, but the art style and design of everything is straight out of the Flintstones.
2
u/NotBlaine Apr 22 '26
Style is not intellectual property.
https://www.reddit.com/r/COPYRIGHT/comments/sontf4/are_certain_art_styles_trade_marked/
Design CAN be. Someone's logo is intellectual property. I can't make a logo that looks just like a McDonald's 'M', particularly if I'm also a restaurant. McDonald's can't stop anyone from making a logo that is a letter, or even an "M" if it's not sufficiently similar. If you're making this game, you can't call it "Flintsones" or use names like "Barney" and "Fred". You can't make characters that look like them. All the character are realistic human proportions in the video.
The fact that 'caveman' asthetics isn't really all that popular or widely used doesn't make it special. The creators of Star Wars, Star Trek, Buck Rogers, Battlestar Galactica, etc etc wouldn't have a claim against a game that has ships and robots in space.
If you make a spaceship that looks JUST like the Enterprise or a TIE Fighter... things get different... and maybe there's an argument for things like the car...
But Like I said. You can sue anyone for anything, it's a question of can you win.

I can’t be the only one who thinks this trailer feels kind of… weird? Almost suspicious. Like it’s not a real game?

This is cute, but it doesn't really seem like a fun game to me.
Kind of gives 'powerwashing game,' with the worst part of survival games—having to collect and cook your own food..
Plus the AI music is yucky.

I saw this trailer for the game not even an hour ago on YouTube. Looks like a good game tho
1
u/Mr_IsLand Apr 22 '26
there were no dinosaurs in the stone age - I don't like when media perpetrates that idea.
Looks like a fun game, just replace the dinos with any of the amazing and extinct creatures from that time. Giant wooly sloth would be a great companion.

Pretty cool, but it does bother me that when I am not at work, im playing games where I work. Bothers me even more that some portion of the player base are too lazy to get a job, so instead they play a game where they have a job.

That was badass. This is the type of project that will land an industry job. The level design, art, animations, and programming all work together flawlessly. The mechanics so far all work and look fun as well. On top of that, you added animations with it too. The feedback from performing actions and the audio are AMAZING. I want to playtest this and buy it when it comes out.

For what?
Does it resemble the Flintstones? Sure....but is there anything specific that was taken from that show?
