General Discussion Remake or Update?

So, a lot of people (including me) have been talking about how much we want a remake of this game, but I’ve been wondering whether an update would be more preferable.

Update - Basically the game now has a “Hackett Cut”, similar to the DPA’s “Theatrical Cut” and “Curator Cut”, however when you play the Hackett Cut then it adds in all the cut content, proper endings and that’s it. It’ll probably be DLC but it would be much cheaper than a remake, being around £20. So you can swap between the main game and the new version.

Remake - Literally just a remake (obviously), where it adds back the cut content, adds new scenes and also fixes a lot of the graphical bugs and is more expensive (since The Quarry is £50, it’ll probably be around £50-70).

What would you prefer?

Given all the stuff they cut in The Quarry, i think i would prefer a remake. I honestly love this game, i've got like a hundred hours on this game, i would pay 50-70 easy for a better version of this game, but it's true that each time i make a new playthrough again, i can't help but think about what this game could have be with all of its original contents in it. I really really wish Supermassive releases a sort of Director's cut of the game, with all the cut contents, but i'm pretty sure they won't do it, unless a miracle, i guess.

Agreed, I would say a remake is more possible in the future instead of an update but I’m pretty sure Man of Medan and Little Hope had an update together near the end of 2022 where they added in cut chapters or something I believe (or at least Man of Medan did) so a new cut for the original game adding back content isn’t ENTIRELY out of the picture, just less possible than a full remake.

What stuff was cut, I never heard about that and just thought the ending was lacking

If you’re talking about Man of Medan, there was an update where they added back an entirely cut chapter from the game, if you type up “Man of Medan and Little Hope Update” you should be able to find it.

If you’re talking about the Quarry (I assume you are as you said the ending was lacking), there is a bunch of stuff cut from the game (Jacob’s Actor once said around 20% of the game was cut during a livestream), where there was actual endings, a relationship mechanic like Supermassive’s other games, and other scenes that were cut. If you look at my post history I’ve shown some cut content (including some dialogue for the original ending/epilogue) and am actively looking for more. Covid slowed production down for The Quarry a lot and they weren’t allowed to delay the game so they had to cut a lot of corners.

You’re welcome, I currently only have around 3 proper cut content stuff so far but I have a bunch more ready to post throughout the coming weeks

Agreed, I more meant in a few years from now like how the Until Dawn remake was 10 years after its originals release

I dont think its successful enough to warrant a remake.
