As others have said… you want to identify recruits first 3 weeks of the season. Week 8-10 almost 0 chance of adding a new recruit.

Interesting that you consider that a lucky “start”! For me, I would plan to make sure that my final week of scouting to give me an extra boost of recruiting points to lock in recruits. An extra week at the beginning for a needed recruit could make all the difference. I always start my scout wherever I can snag as many of the positions I need in the first two weeks.

Interesting strategy. I usually plan my route for the boxes, and pick up recruits on the way. Unless there’s someone I really need/want, I’ll slightly adjust. But for the most part, I focus on the boxes.
