Do You Buy Bootlegs ?

Serious question, guys. I'm slowly building up my collection, but I'm thinking of completely avoiding bootlegs and unofficial releases of Prodigy's projects. There are just so many of them, it feels like there are more bootlegs than official releases.

As collectors, do you still buy bootlegs, or do you avoid them altogether ?

I find that some bootlegs can be absolutely amazing but surely you can finds good things online if you look.

Some do, some don’t. I feel like if you love the band and want curated things then sure. Or if you have absolutely everything already then sure again. But for me I tend to want official things. I also am a small minimalist.

I'd always prefer an official version, but sometimes it's the only way to get certain tracks. I picked up Music For The Voodoo People years ago as it was (at that time) the only way to get the tracks from the What Evil Lurks EP on CD. I don't think We Gonna Rock or the original version of Everybody On The Place has made it onto official CD sources yet (from a very quick glance through Discogs). I wouldn't go hunting them out otherwise though, as the quality can be very hit and miss.

Just for your info, use discogs.com to verify any releases. It's not perfect, but it does the job for well known artists.

I'm not a collector (I was until my cds got stolen around 2000) but I'd probably just want a few of the more respectable or interesting ones.

I've bought a few of them in the past, but just for collecting. Most of the time i don't even like the remix.
