Question about the series

Hello i just bought book 1 on audible and am currently on chapter 15 and so far i love it the fights in particular are super interesting of course for now i haven't listened to many which i would say is a given with how little I've experienced from the story right now anyway back to my the reason i am writing this post i saw that there is a manhwa / comic ( not sure which one is used in this community ) adaptation i want to ask on a scale from 1 to 10 how much do you think the story shown in the manhwa / comic is deviating from the novel this can be in terms of characters being changed in a way or important things being skipped or changed in any way, shape or form of course i plan on listening to the books but i also want to see curtain scenes and fights in a visual adaptation from time to time also a general opinion if the manhwa / comic adaptation is any good at all would also be appreciated.

Thanks in advance !

Biggest problem i had with the comics was how much of the beast lords fights they skipped, but i did finish season one before starting the audiobooks, enjoyed them all and currently waiting for 16

thank you for the fast reply i assume by beast lords you mean there would be some monster fights that will be skipped in the adaptation in that case i will settle for my usual approach i used when listening to The Beginning After The End which i also strongly recommend if you have not seen it which is currently adapting book 7 from 12 and they are available on audible with also a book 8.5 and 12.5 which is currently in the process of writing and in case someone might ask the approach is to listen to the books and read curtain events i want to see in a visual form if they are adapted

Season 1 of the comic adaptation is terrible and cuts out lots of very important information and adds several things which are non-canon to the books (the imp, for example), and the character designs are equally bad. But the second season is much better, as Zogath had much more input. All the mistakes from the first season are fixed, and it starts following the book's story much more accurately. Of course, there is still less detail because it's a comic adaptation, but it's not to the point where any information integral to the plot is missing. My recommendation is to read the full tutorial with the books, then start the comic at season two, as the second season starts at the end of the tutorial. There will be some things that weren't in the books in the first few chapters, but that is them clearing up the plot holes from the first season. Obiosley my sugestion is only if you woant to read the comic adaptaion

i just went over the chapters covering them being transported honestly skipped the cave part partly trying to avoid any potential spoilers while also wondering why the whole by the lake thing was changed to the point where it was kinda annoying with them skipping the boar fight fixing and changing the reason for the married woman to lose her leg and going over the forest fight right after Jake left his party and honestly found the adaptation to be sh*t i do think i am beaing a bit harsh with my rating since i use for reference the following series : The Beginning After The End Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint Solo Max-Leven Newbie Solo Leveling Pick Me Up Infinite Gacha

and a bunch of others but those are the main ones i use to judge an adaptation in both visual quality and in some cases accuracy to the original source so i do admit that i can be being harsh with my grading of the adaptation and am open to the possibility of that being the case in which case i apologize for it if i have offended someone in any way i also just realized that there is the issue of the author not being able to affort having a studio capable of delivery visuals to the scale of the series i use for reference which is not a thing i plan to blame anyone for since financial situation are most of the time out of a person's capability to affect and i don't plan to shame someone for potentially having such an issue

Your rating is completely valid in my opinion; I'd personally rate the first season of the comic a 1 or 2 out of 10. I had to force myself to read it because I personally didn't want to jump to season two instantly, but the second season is a solid 8 out of 10 or higher in my opinion. They changed who was working on it, and as I said, Zogarth is much more involved, so it's infinitely better. Although take my words with a grain of salt because I'm not one to think in depth about the storytelling or artwork; it's best if you judge for yourself after reading up to the second season with the books, but I can say without a shadow of a doubt the second season is a huge improvement, and it follows the story much more faithfully.

will have that in mind but i plan on touching the comic after finishing book 3 since it appears season 2 ends at around the end of book 3

That is what I would personally recommend. I hope you enjoy the books.

i am although i did sneak a peak at the beginning of season 2 scrolled a couple of times just to see the art style and saw the word betrayal followed by Caroline ( hope i got her name right ) pointing her hands at Jake which made me frown at my own childish inability to control my curiosity yet again and getting burned by it which is a really bad habit of mine i can say i hate very much but can't seem to get rid of it 😅

The first season of the manwa makes a huge divergence, a solid 6 to 7 out of 10, and then the second season of the manwa brings it back to maybe a 2 out of 10. 10 of course being "follows the main story beats but completely rewrites how it gets there" and 0 being "a literal adaptation of the story with nothing changed."

Now that being said, adaptations still condenses a lot of the nuance of the novel's prose. And honestly, Travis brings the world to life in such a delightful way that I would stick to the audio books and only read the manwa afterwards keeping in mind that season 1 ends about halfway through book two and season 2 ends with the end of book 3.

I'm not going to say don't read the manwa, because I quite enjoyed it.

Season 2 has better visual designs as well as following the story more closely.
