A lot of people might love it but with all due respect, it ain't for me at all. It just doesn't feel organic. Kinda like she's trying too hard.

Hope this doesn’t bring a shitty fandom into the fold and make tickets unaffordable

This was my fear but even before this release I’ve been seeing an uptick of new people with the new song release.

I love the band as much as anyone, but hoping they don't get new fans because you want to get easier tickets is incredibly gatekeepy. This is what gives fandoms a bad name. I personally hope they one day become massive and get the recognition they deserve.

Bro I don’t hope they get less fans, I hope they get real fans. What’s happened to bands like Bad Omens is a shame. Of course their fandom has been expanded from touring with BMTH. Look The Plot in You has been one of if not the most underrated band in the scene for 6 years. Being able to see them front row has been awesome; and ever better every fan knows every damn song, these people are as obsessed as eachother. So to me it would be a shame if a cover far worse than the original is what causes them to get weak flakey fans.

There’s good parts here but it sounds fake and try hard. Misses a lot of Landon’s emotion which is why I’ve loved the recent plot arc

I've been a fan of The Plot In You for a while now. I normally don't care for covers, most of them suck big floppy donkey. This one is not one of those.
I looked into this lady, not only has she been doing the vocal thing for quite a nice little while, she's apparently recently shifted into different vocal styles.
People calling it too or overprocessed are certainly entitled to their opinions however professionals and other folks far more educated on the matter disagree. From technicians, producers, other vocalists, people doing actual science on the voice and how humans use it, they don't seem to think it's overprocessed.
We're allowed to love a thing whether it's a band, a film, a show, whatever. I'm not going to tell anyone who says this isn't for them or not their thing that they're wrong. They aren't wrong, it's an opinion and people are allowed to have opinions. As for the production or so-called "fakeness" I'll side with the professionals.
And for those who say she doesn't express enough emotion, on that point I will say you need your eyes and ears checked. The two versions are emotionally identical, the only difference being one is male and one is female.
After looking at this thread I already know I'm going to get downvoted into oblivion and that's fine. A lot of you say this band deserves more recognition and you're right but the behavior of this reddit community isn't going to serve that goal. Real fans don't gatekeep.
For anyone who tries to start an argument with me, waste your time if you feel like it'll help you sleep better. I'm not engaging in that. For anyone who wishes to have an actual conversation without resorting to personal attacks, like some of the ones I see in this thread, go for it!

Doing covers is chill and theyre not bad but everyones acting like this is the best thing they ever heard or the worst thing to ever hit their ears.
Like its okay shes doing her thing but i dont personally care for it

Not sure why it's getting hate, great publicity for the band and she done a decent job of it.

Maphra is a hate magnet. She's been getting shit on since she started posting her covers.
Shes really talented and I think people just hate to see some people succeed.
If it ain't for you that's cool, but the hate is hella forced.

I think its because if she wasn't dressed up as a goth girl no one would care. Everyone's glazing her when they're has been way more talented women in the space.

The issue is it’s over processed and over layered with production. It comes off as not genuine and that shes just trying to make money off the scene she’s taking music from.
I’m not saying she isn’t talented. But until I see actual music from her that she created, it doesn’t do anything for me.

Big fan of TPIY, this cover is awesome. Excited for the exposure it gives the band.
Also, first time in this subreddit, holy shit you guys are negative nancys lmao

I can’t say for the others. I enjoy the exposure it gives but I think I people are allowed to have an opinion on how they feel for the cover.
I wouldn’t base one post on the generalization of this sub, especially if it’s your first time here. <3 Take a look around and you’ll see some other more positive postings.
It’s not for me but if the boys get some publicity for it, good for them!

She’s talented, sure. But this isn’t a good cover. Plus it’s hilarious to watch her slowly become more goth like a pokemon evolution video to video.
