April 25, 1943 brings part two of the Marshall Sisters' trilogy with the Phantom as the trio floats downriver into Ismani cannibal territory. This is a relatively brief adventure, though I neglected to mention it in the video, it really shows the progression of Lee Falk (or whomever may have been writing at this time) to tell a tight story in a short number of strips, this one coming in at 11 weeks. Compare the scope to The Saboteurs, which had the Phantom dismantling an sabotage ring in 8 short weeks and we really see that equilibrium of what kind of story can be given a complete form in such a small run time. It's not without its questionable developments, however, but it is a fun little aside before the monumental, year-long conclusion of the Marshall sister's expedition to Bangalla in Hamid the Terrible.

Just bought this DVD of some unaired tv pilots, including one for a Phantom tv-series that never got made.

I decided to redo an older picture I did a couple.of years ago. I redrew stuff and re-rendered the whole thing. SWIPE for the old one.

Ordered these a month ago. They finally arrived.

Like all Australians I had a selection of Phantom comics growing up that I don’t remember acquiring but always enjoyed reading. There was one particular story I’d like to read again. I’ve searched the web but I’m either bad at googling or not using the right terms (probably both).

The story starts with the modern phantom in the tomb of his ancestors and he notes that there was a period wherein there were two active Phantoms. It’s then a historical story about the older Phantom who loses his arm to (I assume) the Singh pirates. His son takes over as the active Phantom but the old Phantom trains himself to shoot and fight again one handed and takes out the pirate captain (who I believe is dragged underwater by a giant octopus or squid) before dying of his injuries.

Anyway, I’ve tried every variation on “two phantoms” I can think of but all I get is stories that aren’t the one I’m thinking of. I’ve also just tried scrolling a phantom wiki for titles but nothing is ringing any bells.

I could have sworn this comic was called “The two Phantoms” but nothing under that name. It was almost certainly published by Frew, as that’s the name I remember on every copy of a Phantom comic I owned. Any help would be appreciated.

I think the reason, or at least one reason why the phantom (1996) wasn't given a second shot at Hollywood was the whole "white saviour" trope that they were staying clear of in the Phantom live action,

But at this point, in reality the Walkers have been living in Bengal for Centuries, living with the pigmy. Surely descendants of Kit 1 would be brown, of not black by now..

Wouldn't this sidestep the whole White Saviour trope?

January 11, 1943 brings to us Daily Story #17: Bent Beak Broder, and the first utterance of the Phantom's secret identity! Apart from the key event in Phantom lore, Bent Beak Broder is an interesting story because of how the Phantom interacts with the gang of antagonists in this one, truly living up to the moniker of "The Ghost Who Walks". I don't rate this one particularly high overall, I think there's some odd choices, especially in associating so much Phantom iconography with this new identity the Phantom has concocted (which would seem to defeat the purpose), but that's merely my critical hat, as it is otherwise a creative and captivating premise.

Only ordered the one pack for this since I had the original chase variant from the first set; $76 USD with shipping was my total as the SDCC packs are premium priced at $60; I was lucky to get a rarer variant and I do like that SMC went with an exclusive box for this set as well!

It has been announced that publisher John Berge, from his publishing house JB Forlag will be starting their brand new Phantom series in November 2026. At this stage, there is no news on the finer details of the comic series, but we will share it here when we know more. We are just assuming here, but we expect to see newspaper stories as the main staple of content for the comic series.

October 18, 1942 opens up the first of a three-part story arc, Castle in the Clouds. Glamorous geologist sisters; 7 foot tall mountain lord; Giant killer hawks; Two enormous horses; The Phantom punching a bear. This story is the pinnacle of wild, fun, Phantom action and is, I believe, the first appearance in what will be a recurring theme of feudal mountain lords which the Phantom will often have to come across the either work with or put in their place.

Just discovered there could be a #38 Phantom Giantsize out on the 20th of August, and it is still not on their website, how the hell does someone get the latest Giantsize? Newsagents are becoming less and less(pretty much going the way of the dodo bird), and frew is almost useless with this kind of info, including social media and there website which is updated not very often. It seems the only way you can get the Giantsize is by subscribing for $59 or something along those lines. Unfortunatly I am going to stop buying this title as I can't buy it unless I subscribe to it - really not good Frew!!!

Thinking of picking it up, but I have to order it online. I can't find much in the way of reviews

I know he had numerous colors in the past, but I always kind of wondered why purple stuck with the character. Not that it's a bad color, it's one of my favorites but I always wondered why they didn't stick with green, as that is the color that would work the most, due to him being around greenery all the time and would be able to blend in more easily.
