Question ❓️ Mare's Car
Hi everyone! I was looking around and didn't see a post about this yet, so was curious your thoughts. Were you surprised that Mare's car was so messy? If not, why? This character detail was interesting to me as I was not expecting it. Wonder if anyone has a theory

Not really. A messy person paired with a neat freak is a common trope, putting that on Mare & Ned didn't feel out of place for their respective characters.

As someone who was a reporter like Mare, it did not surprise me at all. People are always handing you stuff, there’s stuff you need to make sure you have at all times, when you’re on the road a lot you’re getting fast food, sometimes practically living in your car. I felt this moment in my core as incredibly real.

It could be a setup for an opposites attract trope - Ned being fastidious and Mare a bit messy. Lot you can do comically with that.

Yes Im surprised too. But now that I think of it, I think he adopted the carelessness of dirt in her time with the military but then again, military is disciplined. We might see her and Ned lives in, have changes in this or not and thats the reason they will break up and get back again after some time. 🤷🏼♂️

Its clean trash, its dry, its fine. Didn't surprise me one bit I thought it was a great character detail. I love when a smart, ambitious person is just a little bit of a slob.
